I am looking forward to hearing Brian Eno's production.
But yeah, the album title sucks.

I was a huge fan of the first two Coldplay albums but X&Y was one of the biggest disappointments ever. The songs are overblown, the lyrics are so shit, everything rhymes so much, it's like it was written by a small child.
However I'm going to give this a chance. I think they've got the potential to pull something great out of the bag still. Agreed though, shit title.

I think Coldplay realised that X&Y wasn't very good. It was bland, boring and nothing new from them. There seems to be pressure for them to create an album that is totally different to all their others this time round. The titles may be an indicator that they are trying to do so. I guess time will tell if it thats the case and whether it will pay off for them.

I thought I was the only one that never got them. I despised Yellow when it was first released and then I think it tainted anything else they've ever done.

I bought Parachutes when it came out, but I got tired of it really fast.

A Rush of Blood to the Head is their best album.

Im not a big Coldplay fan, but absolutely LOVE Parachutes. Been a bit dissapointed with everything they've done since really and was very surprised when they became as massive as they did. Get a feeling people will get tired of them this time around though.

Same here. I absolutely adored Parachutes (except for Yellow b/c of its overexposure :\). I didn't like their second album as much and then didn't even bother with their third.

Pretty much the same with me, although I like Yellow. I also have the Blue Room E.P which is before Parachutes and in the same vein.

^ is that the one with the track 'See You Soon'? Its such a nice song. Arguably my favourite Coldplay song...
Every now and again they'll release a good track, 'Rush of Blood had The Scinetist and I thing theres a track called Amsterdam at the end of the album which is nice. My favourites on X&Y were Fix You and Swallowed By The Sea.
Ive still got time for them, but to be honest, I started getting bored of that sort of music when Travis turned crap :lol Remember them?

yeah they are still around, think they're working on a new album actually.
i dunno about you but in the UK we were snowed under with these types of bands after Travis' album 'The Man Who' came out. BORING! But 'The Man Who' is actually a good little album. It wasnt their first album either. But yeah, they lost it after that. Still capable of a good pop tune every now and again though

I still enjoy Parachutes on certain days. After that, I just kinda lost them. I always thought they were just too boring.
Now it looks like they are trying WAY too hard.

I like them, but after finally listening to some Radiohead records, I realized that was the sound they'd sort of borrowed from. Example: Fake Plastic Trees with it's simple buildup into full band, something Coldplay does somewhat often on stuff like Yellow.
Maybe that's just me though.

This seems as good a place as any to post this:
Ryan the opposite of Coldplay is not Warmsleep, although that is funny, but I think it would be Hotwork.

I like the album, especially Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant, Death and All Friends, 42 and Viva la Vida & Cemeteries of London. Violet Hill ain't half bad either.
Still not a masterpiece, but good.
