I assume Oasis allows taping at their shows then?

hildegoat

I haven't a clue. A recording still hasn't appeared from the only other RA show I've been to (Minneapolis Meltdown '07) so we'll have to see.

I don't think we need a tape of that show. :lol

no way...not in the way RA shows get recorded anyhow.

So the best we can hope for is a clandestine recorder under someone's coat? Great sound quality.

I'll see what I can do.

If that fails, just commit the entire setlist (including banter thx) to memory. Then you can reinact the whole thing and put it on YouTube. Hank can play the role of Neal Casal.

That made me giggle. He is a cool cat (Neal, that is). :)

It looks like Matt Costa has been added to the lineup (and to the rest of the Canadian shows). Let's hope this doesn't reduce the RA time by too much. And let's also hope Costa's gear doesn't get stolen again.

I can promise a setlist and maybe a photo or two if I'm not too far back. Shan wants me to bring her little video camera in case he plays Let It Ride. :lol

from RAA... I assume "Let it Roll" = Let it Ride

I just got back form the show, and it was solid. Real nice bass thumping sound and Ryan was in a good mood and joked with the crowd a lot.

7PM Todd Costa and Friend. Good Acoustic folk/rock.
715 RA on Drums. Snuck on, played well and you could tell Todd Costa enjoyed having him back there.
725 Off stage

7:27 RA&TC on stage. "Great to be here in Winnipeg. It's a nice city, though yesterday it was summer, and today it's not. Put your helmets on."

Broadway
Let it Roll
Please do not let me go
A Kiss Before I go
New Song. "If I fall will you catch me? ...Confuse (?) my love?
New Song. "Someone you love throws you away....Always I Will Fix it" (?)
Shake DOwn on 9th st. (Rockin! Ryan soloed with one foot held way up behind him.)
Sun ALso Sets (RA no Guitar)

Funny bit about how they last played that 6 years ago when touring with BTO and Foghat in Winnipeg. (BTO is from here) It was cool until after the show at the bar BTO got into a fight with BOC and it was totally BS.

Everybody Knows
Asteroid and laser noises from RA, then a plea to George Lucas to please MF'en make 1,2, & 3!
"This song is about sucking face"

Stars Go Blue (Big cheer on opening notes)
"Just a few more songs before the rock machine that is Oasis. We're like Blade Runner 2. By the way, we're not really the show tonight, but you all have probably figured that out by now. (good laugh)
"This next song is called Two. Not that we have anything against One.

Two
New Song. "I wish I could tell you how I felt..."
Come Pick Me Up. Big cheer on opening notes. RA Threw harp across stage.

"This is our last song. Thank you, and especially thanks to the biggest fucking thing in rock, Oasis. (more banter) You gotta excuse me tonight, I had a coffee and four diet cokes. (Snort/laugh) You probably wish I'd get the fuck off stage. I wish I'd get the fuck off stage. I'm so bored with my self! God, Help Me!!! (screams, arrgh) I need some sort of giant Nintendo, like, as big as this auditorium....

Mockingbird. Excellent

Off 8:27pm.

Considering they were out there to warm up for Oasis, they did a great job. The Cards were tight as hell and looked to be having a great time. Strobes were set to blink with the drums. No taping signs on the doors. Too bad they couldn't do some serious long jams, but the crowd of Oasis fans wouldn't have been too into that. Some guy behind me yelled Wonderwall a lot, but I didn't hear any Summer of '69 requests.

Peace.

Grim

Off to bed, gotta work early tomorrow.

The show was great! Very tight and they caught a few flubs by RA (missed line in the second chorus of The Sun Also Sets and he decided to not do a harmony or two with Neal in Everybody Knows so Neal got stuck at the mic for a second).

Let It Ride was a decent tempo (not the slow stuff he did at the meltdown show).

Please Do Not Let Me Go went right into A Kiss Before I Go -- no break between those.

Shakedown was a highlight as always, and he did The Sun Also Sets at the middle mic with no guitar.

He had the blue new logo t-shirt on and had the leather jacket on for only the first few songs, but he had to put it on just for The Sun Also Sets.

When The Stars Go Blue was introduced as "this song is about sucking face."

Come Pick Me Up started with harmonica, but the rest of the choruses were just dual guitar and it sounded AWESOME. It really gives the song a different feel, like when they did Everybody Knows on Letterman and it rocked out.

Mockingbird was a great way to end the show. There was no guitar noodling really (just the normal Off Broadway stuff) -- it was a finely-tuned and efficient show. He played the rest of the songs I wanted to hear but didn't get at Minneapolis Meltdown '07, so this was a good bookend to that one. He was in really good spirits, and Neal seems to be more active on stage, interplaying with Brad and bouncing around a bit.

Oasis was great too -- 65 minute set and 25 minute encore. But RA & TC did it for me by themselves, and the guy next to me was sold too. He'll be buying Cold Roses at my suggestion soon.

Oh and the merch was weak. Black EKG shirt, blue new (read: lame) logo shirt and the brown girl's one for $35. That's it, but I guess it's your normal "opening band merch" sparseness.

I would assume there won't be any recordings during the Oasis part of the tour. They did a pretty thorough search before getting into the arena last night and it was posted everywhere about the prohibition of recording devices.

Yeah. Matt Costa was on at 7 on the button, RA & TC at 7:25. Oasis was on at 9.

I think I remember hearing the oven comment, but it didn't register to link it to the ChatBox. I was trying to hard to hear what he actually said for most of the banter (he was quiet and mumbly a large portion of the time). Maybe he stalks me and knew I was gonna be at the show, so he figured I'd report back.

Yeah, he did mumble lot, I'm sure I missed things. I most likely wouldn't have paid much attention to the oven comment (I didn't know it was a shout out to TBY, since I honestly don't go on here much, being the lurker I am), but my friend found it hysterical.

:lol love it!
is that your video, hilde?
also, it's notably more-audible than ryan's banter has been at most shows I've seen. As funny as his stage whisper is, it's so frustrating when you know he is probably saying hilarious shit but you can only make half of it out. Maybe he's purposely not doing that with the Oasis crowd for fear they'll lose attention even faster than a Cardinals crowd?

hildegoat
09-06-2008, 12:05 AM
It's not my video. My boss was supposed to go to the show but couldn't make it at the last minute so I was digging around YouTube and this is the only Cardinals video from that show I found.

This was right at the end of the set when he was figuring the crowd wants him off to see Oasis, so he was getting wordy, louder and less mumbly. It got better as the set went on (mumbly and quiet at the start, better by the end).
