Surely the most overrated band ever...
Agreed?

They're sort of overrated, yeah.
But I still love them.

I've only heard recent U2 stuff, accounts are their earlier albums are better.

I haven't listened to them in ages, but I still love some of their very early stuff like Gloria and I Will Follow. And War was a great album.

Yep the earlier albums are definitely better. Their last album had some good individual songs, but the album as a whole was lacking. Their live show is still amazing

RHCP are more of a comedy act I always thought...they dont deserve being called a 'band'. But yes, they are complete utter shite

For the record, I absolutely love New Years Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday

Then you need to pick up a copy of War.

I like the early stuff but I've not listened to anything very recent. I liked Bono when he had the long hair - nothing to do with his singing - and he is a bit holy.

I think they put on a great live show. I've seen them a couple of times and those shows are some of the best live shows I've been to.
That being said, I think they are over-rated and I'm not a huge fan. I own all the albums, but rarely do they get played. My brother loves them and that is why I went and saw them.
I can see the appeal for others and agree that they are a great band, but they just don't do anything for me. They are way down on my top band list.

TOTALLY AGREE!!! Oh my god, I think the Chili Peppers get WAY TOO MUCH CREDIT. I have seen them twice, and have like 3 of there albums, and I still don't get it. I am just glad someone else agrees with me.
And I love U2, but I think they do get a little too much credit, especially since everyone seems to think that they are SO MUCH more important then REM. Which, IMO, is a far far better band.

War, The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum are terrific albums. Everything else since then that I've heard has been pretty meh. By all accounts the last show they did in Sydney recently was pretty good, provided you didn't have nosebleed seats.
Bono has become a walking punch-line though.

Agreed. I was really into that album in high school, but haven't listened to it in a long time.

Oh man totally agree. I couldn't bare to listen to their last album, what a joke. And from what I've heard their live shows aren't good at all.

I always thought Achtung Baby! was a pretty solid album. And at the time it was a brave move on their part to create something totally different to their very sucessful Joshua Tree album. I guess it just shows taking risks musically can pay off, but also can fail as shown with the album Pop..

Cool, who's your friend's dad?
And on the U2 thing, I love them but they definitely are the most hyped up band in the world. I really really love Achtung Baby but every album since then (especially the last two) have had A LOT of filler tracks on them.
And RHCP, don't even get me started, terrible, can't stand them at all. They've put out the same album three times in a row now. I guess they've struck a winning formula, people buy the records and they seem to win Grammy's so good on 'em if they don't give a fuck about credibility.

Sorry, can't resist an opportunity to have a dig at the Grammys (much like the Simpsons)

havent really got anything against the Grammys, ive never watched them. To be honest, id rather win a Brit award than a Grammy. id say they're both the top mainstream music awards out there.
i fucking hate the MTV Awards though, so trashy. actually, i hate MTV in general
