Changes on the opening page

I'm wondering why the box on the front page with the recent posts and all the top lists was removed? I kinda liked it.

Also I was wondering why the current active users list has reorganized. It used to be in alphabetical order, I thought. Now it seem to be in random order. Being a logical orderly person this messes with me.

They were both moves to relieve the server load.

The stats on the front page made 5 extra calls to the database for every load. I figured that information can be found elsewhere so I gave it the axe.

Having the active users in alphabetical order was an extra query as well.

This should help to stop the server going down then? If that's the case - that's good.

And yeah, if living without those will help me not have to be without TBY all morning, then I'm all for the change. ;)

I think it's more the number of times those things were used and were really working the server hard. 5 queries for each database call can add up pretty quickly.
