Just arrived at our hotel in syracuse :D
It's rainy and nasty as fuck but hopefully that'll be the only bad part about today (besides my exhausted hangover. Note to self: don't stay up past 5am when you have 2 more nights of driving and shows ahead of you).
I'll be keeping a setlist... if no one else seems to be texting one in, someone* should send me a text to let me know and i'll try to at least send it at set break.
*cough* bootch, way, EG this means you since I think you're the only ones with my number.

that was my first la cienega... and that song was the first time they've made me cry at a show. Obviously I personally connect with that song, and it was beautiful. The fact that it was preceded by Go Easy just made it that much better. I am SO fucking happy they played Go Easy again. I can now confirm that my memories from the Fillmore were correct.... That song is fucking great. I have a video I'll try to upload later.
OMGWE was just this awesome, spooky version. Ryan just on the mic, Jon on guitar, intense vocals that felt like a bit of a throwback to the blue cave from summer '07.
House is Not for Sale was also Ryan just on the mic and Jon on guitar. Rosebud will attest to the fact that I jumped at least a foot in the air when I heard the opening chords. It was very electric, very... great.
On the down side, the crowd was by far the worst I've personally ever experienced. You know some members of the crowd where bad when I'm walking down the street AFTER a show and have drunk kids yelling shit at me (b/c I asked them once, very politely, to stop having a conversation IN MY EAR - their response? "it's a fucking concert" ... and then to spend the rest of peaceful valley bending down to yell in my ear "don't fucking talk the bitch will get upset" - yeah, it was BAD). I only dealt with them for about half of Peaceful Valley and then got the fuck out of there. It was bad and weird.
Fortunately the Cards put on a fantastic show despite the BS members of the crowd having a frat party in the front of the center aisle (and loud conversation in the several empty rows in back of the theater). I spent the 2nd set dancing back by the soundboard and had a way better time there... briefly tried to go back to my seat during Peaceful Valley and had this ridiculous confrontation with the drunk kids... got back to my dancing spot before the end of P.V.
My laughing moment of the night was the drunk asshats trying to clap along to Oh My God Whatever Etc. They'd lose the beat when they realized it wasn't working, then try again when the chorus came back.
Set-list wise, this was my best show, simply because I finally got to hear some lesser-played songs, Go Easy came back, I finally got my La Cienega... And that was by far my favorite Freeway to the Canyon that I've heard. My first This Is It and House is Not For Sale. When those songs start coming out, you just have that 'this is special' feeling.
The final note of Cold Roses was held sooooo..... long........ it was beautiful. Had to be at least 10 seconds. I've said about Fillmore and Boston that they were great but I felt like Ryan's vocals were holding back a bit. Those moments that had so much potential just didn't have the vocals extended and soaring the way I know he can do. Personally, tonight, he started to let go vocally on some songs the way I'd been craving. Blue Hotel, OMG Whatever Etc., Sun Also Sets, Wonderwall, and several others just had some phenomenal vocal moments that are what I've personally missed from the last few shows. The ICY monsters started slow and built and built. Peaceful Valley went somewhere great... fuck, I need to stop trying to type/speak now. I'm happy. Can't wait for tomorrow night.

God they absolutely KILL the CR material.
Maybe its because they have been playing it for 3+ years now, but christ, if they re-recorded CR with the CR tunes they play live, it could be their best album.
