ive got to go with the stones... i find their sound more appealing than the beatles...and they get extra points because they are still touring even though they a incredibly old

That's incredibly tough, I love them both and both were obviously incredibly influential. My heart is probably more on the side of The Beatles though, so that's what I went with.

I haven't heard much beatles so I can't make a valid choice.

I never got into any of the post-Beatles stuff either I must confess...

Beatles because The Stones were always following in their wake until they broke up. The Stones really found themselves after that as far as I'm concerned & the Mick Taylor period stuff still sounds amazing today.
It doesn't get much better than Exile On Maine Street.
It would've been interesting to see which direction The Beatles would have gone in, had they continued into the seventies. They were incredibly innovative in the studio & I think they did more to push the boundaries of pop music than practically anybody, with maybe the exception of The Beach Boys.
Personally, I don't go a bundle on most of the solo stuff. I think it was the sum of the parts that made them great.
I don't listen to either of them so much these days but I have everything The Beatles ever recorded & the Stones albums that are my favourites on CD.

Pretty much the same for me. I have select Stones albums that I love, but I do have everything by The Beatles. I still listen to The White album, Revolver, and Rubber Soul quite often, brilliant stuff.

:( they get extra points because they are still touring even though they a incredibly old
as opposed to incredibly dead? :( it's hard to choose, they really are so different, but John Lennon is such a powerful presence, gotta go with thr Beatles

I never really cared for either. Although I must confess I do own that Exile albumn. And the Stones are still around. So they get my vote.
Bob Dylan is my big 60's hero.

Why are The Stones garnering points for still being around? I think that's more of a negative then a positive at this point. :wtf

Hmmm....Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour, The White Album, Abbey Road...all albums that i can play start to finish and never get tired of...I'll go with the Beatles.
The Stones have a few albums i think that are classic...Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main Street, Some Girls and Tattoo You...but they are still Poor Man's Beatles.

Well, I just think it's pretty nifty that they're still around. The Beatles were shortlived and, in my opinion, worse off for it. The solo projects were pretty crap (except George Harrison) and one of remaining members is in the news for the wrong reasons and the other has lapsed into obscurity and more loved as a childs programme narrator than the Beatles drummer. :lol
The Stones? They're falling out of palm trees and on a sold out world tour. Mark of a good band, that.
But I'm just being a bastard. The Beatles are obviously more influential. But from my own experiences, the Stones get my vote. :)

Last time the Stone played here, they were fantastic by all accounts. They warmed up by doing a gig at the Enmore (tiny theatre) before they hit the stadiums and everyone raved about it. There were hundreds of people standing outside in the streets trying to listen to the show for free and basically just be there.
They haven't made a decent album in years (and probably never well again) but they can still rock it up.

My own personal opinion is that they should have hung it up years ago. Watching them earlier this year at half time during the Super Bowl really made me cringe, just horrible, imo. Still, they're The Stones and they have a weighty legacy so I'm certainly not surprised people still excitedly go to see them, but I think it's more about nostalgia then anything else. That said, of course I'd stand outside in the street to hear the show for free too. :lol

Beatles no doubt, never stopped listening and I never will. But the Stones from my point of view only have a handful of great songs. No offence to Stones fans. :)

I listen to the Stones more, but The Beatles were a little more talented. The Stones earlier stuff was brilliant, but the Beatles improved as they went along. I'm not much for the "I love you yeah yeah yeah," but songs like Daytripper and Elenor Rigby and Let it Be just blow me away.
