Magnolia Mountain

Call me wierd but this song reminds me of the 2005 film "Batman Begins". There are numerous similarities between the song lyrics and the movie. The hideout for the villainous group the "League of Shadows" is a mountain in Tibet. The leader of the league (Ra's al Ghul) played by Liam Neeson is thought to be hundreds of years old and immortal (song lyric: "nothin' but the truth up on Magnolia Mountain where nobody ever dies"). The league are eco-terrorists with the goal of destroying civilization. They reportedly "sacked Rome", "burned Constantinople", etc. (song lyric: "we burned the cotton fields down in the valley and ended up with nothin' but scars; scars became the lessons that we gave to our children after the war"). If you watch the movie and then listen to the song you'll pickup more similarities.

I can't say its a connection I would have thought of - but who knows I guess. Ryan's lyrics are often very esoteric.
