I recently bought a Billy Bragg compilation CD with a mixture of acoustic version of some his songs. Never really heard much of his stuff before, and now I'm keen to go and check out his catalogue.
Any ideas of the best albums to start with?
My favourite tracks on the album I have are "New England", "The Busy Girls Buys Beauty" and "Richard".

Oh, I love Billy. I have all his albums. Good place to start is Back To Basics, a superb collection of his early work. After that, Workers Playtime is excellent, a must have I'd say. Also, Talking With The Taxman About Poetry has some great songs, Greetings To The New Brunette is one of my favorites.
Mermaid Avenue with Billy and Wilco is an excellent album too.

The more I listen the more I like. His lyrics are brilliant and he manages to be very political without coming across as lame - which few seem to be able to do. Thank ya for the tips.
