What are your thoughts on the news that it was undisclosed sensitive information being made public that led to Lost Highway's request to shut down the .org?

I'd like to believe it, but considering the way it unfolded it just doesn't make sense to me. So I lean more towards not believing it.

I said yes, because imagine your in Adams boots as many lovers and haters or just negative fans seem to hit the .org commenting on every aspect of his life. Sometimes things said and questions asked are really too personal, I understand the compulsion to do so, but some folks need to keep themselves in check.
I don't know if he's got the personality that can just shrug off things like that I know I don't. But hey I'm slighly pairnoid.

In that case, you'll fit right in here. :) And yeah, this is an issue that everyone has different views on and there is really no "right" answer. Its interesting to see everyone's take on something like this though.

Nice to know my pairnoia will finally pay off somewhere, lol. Yes, no right answer alright! I'm probably alone in my point of view, but oh well.

No, I'm sure there are plenty who agree with you actually. Its just that most of them are probably in bed asleep right about now.

IMHO the entire premise is crazy, wtf is ra doing on a fan board.... it just feeds the egos of some fans and encourages immature a-h's to go off on a big old naughty power thing. Ryan has his own website to use if he wants to communicate with fans, he could just put in a little "from RA" section. Then he could ignore the entire thing, stay above it, and let Dave deal with those who kinda ruin it, but I guess that just wouldn't be him. Whatever, that's Ryan.

I agree here. He ain't a side of beef, and I can just imagine being Wonder Boy and seeing something out there in front of God and Everybody on .org that I didn't want up there. I'd probably react in a similar way.

Still I need a little more info to really make up my mind. I also want to tend toward sean's "I don't give a s***" option.

I love Wonder Boy's music, and I did enjoy reading his posts on the .org. I appreciated his attmept to kind of reach out and allow the fans into his brain/heart a little. But a lot of folks take things too seriously and seem to exist only to be negative pri*ks. :\

Ryans ridiculous. I'm not sure as to why he had the .org shut down, but I do know that when he was playing with Phil Lesh a while back he had a Phil fan website shut down because people did'nt like Ryan.

IMO

Get over it or stop reading reviews about your band and yourself

Phil had the site shutdown or Ryan? Phil I guess. I hadn't heard about this.

I'm actually a little hurt that nobody wants to shut down TBY. I don't like Neal Casal either but nobody has noticed apparently.

The story we got was Ryan asked Phil to shut down the site till after the shows.

OKay, thanks for the info. It would really be easier for all concerned if RA just stopped reading message boards methinks.

Yep, that's it in a nutshell. If he can't deal with people speaking their mind, then he should just stay away from online message boards. It's not just people who display troll like posting behavior that get up his nose either, it's also genuine fans whom might have some negative thoughts about a particular show. I've seen him get quite angry and lash out at posts like as well, and I always feel bad for the person who posted. Not cool behavior, imo. Afterall, you can't control people's thoughts.

Afterall, you can't control people's thoughts.

Exactly. Most artists simply do no seem to have a problem with this situation. And, despite what I've read from a few other boards lately, there is no way RA fans are any more vicious or highly critical than fans of any other musician are.

If you want vicious, go check out stoneponylondon, a Springsteen site. They rip into Bruce, hate Patty with a passion and basically slag off pretty much everything he's done since Born to Run. Somehow I doubt Springsteen cares, or even knows the site exists. When he wants to say something, he posts on his official site. Everyone's happy.

Its not rocket science.

Calmer heads will prevail, you'll see. That's the way of the dot org. Until then, sean's completely right. Who cares?

If that's true, its a very slack thing to do. Its strange that nobody is saying they saw it though - that kind of post would be remembered I would have thought.

Was this mentioned on the .org? I couldn't find it. I'm surprised no one saw the original post, at least I've not seen it mentioned that it might have been that. Very uncool thing to do. :\

Rob,

What's the link to that information? Not that I don't believe you. That's completely insane, if that's what someone put on there. What's wrong with people?

Really? That is a bit creepy. Some people take fandom a little too seriously by the sounds of it.

all of this .org shutdown nonsense is so unnecessary

there are better ways to handle things if sensitive information was posted on a messageboard

Most of the leaks i've heard have come directly from ryan's own management (and in some cases from ryan's own mouth or pen)

George Micheal shut down his message board a couple of years ago too - mainly because some fans said he was getting old and fat. But at least that was his official site, paid for by his management. He left the unofficial sites alone.
