Question 1:

Only female pigs are used to locate truffles, those expensive and rare mushrooms that grow underground near the base of trees.
Why?

(a) Because female pigs are more intelligent

(b) Because truffles smell like male pigs.

(c) Because female pigs are considered harder working and better diggers

(d) This is not true. Both male and female pigs are used to locate truffles.

Most Hindus do not eat beef. So, in India, McDonald's use something else for their hamburger patties. Is it:

(a) mutton

Question 3 is closing shortly..............

Sydneyfan
07-03-2007, 09:50 PM
Yokay, C was the correct answer. Frank was 11 when he left a drink with a stirring stick in it outside overnight. Since Frank clearly did not live in the subtropics, the drink froze and the idea for the popsicle was born.

Incidentially, the original name for the product was the Eppsicle.

Quincy still in the lead.

Oh, and I'm not going to accept chicken as a correct answer for the McDonalds question, sorry Duckman. :( The original question inferred what meat is used instead of beef for their burgers. The answer is mutton. The chicken burgers are another product altogether.

Question 4:

Birds nest soup is an expensive Chinese delicacy. The nests of which birds are considered especially valuable for this dish?

Sydneyfan
07-07-2007, 06:36 PM
The correct answer was C - cave swifts. Jess and blueone were correct.

These birds make their nests out of spit (yum). When you heat the nests, the spit dissolves and becomes sort of gluey. This is then added to soup and apparently taste great. Bowls of birds nest soup can cost up to US$100, as the nests are difficult to find.

Final question.....

Question 5:

The traditional diet of the Inuit people contained scarely any obvious sources of vitamin C such as fruit, vegetables or other plant matter. And yet, early explorers found the Inuit to be totally free of scurvy. How was this possible?

(a) they ate large amounts of raw and semi-raw meat which contains enough Vitamin C to maintain health. Cooking destroys the Vitamin C levels.

(b) they ate moss and lichen

(c) they ate the stomach contents of caribou which contained lichen and moss.

(d) Inuits are genetically immune to scurvy
