No info on ticket prices yet? I guess if the NZ show is $75, we'd be looking at $60-ish? How much were tix last time?

Um, around 60 I think, once you added all the Ticketek charges and crapola into it. I'm not sure 100% though.

Just FYI those hoping to go to the Sydney show...
Just saw this mentioned on another board......the Enmore has changed the seated/standing configurations around recently. Standing used to be up front, right near the stage. It is now at the back, behind the front seating.
Whiskeyfan
07-01-2007, 05:27 AM
Wilco had front standing area, then a barrier and some more standing room behind up towards the mixing desk, so now there will be seats up front?, that's kinda weird.
I'd rather be standing, its just what I'm used to at a show but if its a better view up front sitting then maybe... not sure though.
Sydneyfan
07-01-2007, 05:42 AM
Yeah, its a bit unusual, but my understanding is that standing will be behind the seats downstairs. Worth checking with the Enmore probably, but I think that's correct. I'm going to try for seating downstairs.
blueone
07-01-2007, 06:03 AM
I prefer to stand at a show only if the standing is at the very front, otherwise it's pointless.

07-01-2007, 09:08 PM
does anyone know if the standing or seating is up the front for sure yet? Im gonna buy tickets this morning at the pre sale and dont know which ones to get
Sydneyfan
07-01-2007, 09:21 PM
The Enmore site says standing is behind the reserved seating. And someone on another board rang the Enmore and was told the same thing. Apparently, they had complaints about the previous set-up, so have changed it.
This is from the Enmore website:
Concert Mode - Reserved seats Front of stage & Upstairs | Dancefloor - behind seats downstair
If you're in Sydney, it might be worth ringing the Enmore and double checking for you own peace of mind before you buy the tickets.

I'm not familiar with all the various venues, but my guess would be most are around the 1500 to 2500 seat mark.

I got my tix for Sydney - Stalls Row Q in the end b/c I kept going "argh, do I take them or chuck them back in and try again". I chucked the L's. :\
It was Melbourne that I was having problems with. It turns out the Ticketmaster page wasn't loading properly, so I couldn't fill in a required field. I eventually managed to get through on the phone and got Stalls Row O.

Ryan adams doesn't have supports when he tours US right?
does that mean there will be no support in Australia?
isn't there some law that says international bands have to have local supports?
Sydneyfan

There's no law like that I'm aware of. Both RA and TC as well as acts like Springsteen have played here in recent years without any support acts.

There used to be a law that made it mandatory for there to be an Aussie act on the bill but it went out a few years ago I believe. There wasnt an opener for Ryan for his last tour. More like he opened for himself.
I got so excited reading about the show on the BASS ticketing site - it has him listed as playing for 3 hours and 15 minutes! Now that would be awesome!
benmoore88
07-02-2007, 02:46 AM
shame they got rid of the law. i dont' think its a big ask for more established and well known acts to give some newer acts a leg up and expose them to a bigger audience than they might get usually. they usually dont' get paid heaps - as the promotion , exposure and opportunity is worth enough - so its not like its eating out of the headliners profits.
but then 3 hours plus of ryan will sooth any discontnt i feel on this... :)

I never feel comfortable sitting at a show, but it seems like you guys are fine with it, just a preference I guess.
I went with standing room at the Enmore and so did my mates. Plus the sound is always ace right in front of the mixing desk. Hope the view is ok, it was for Wilco a couple of months back so I'm happy.
Can anyone give me some advice for the melbourne show? Is standing room at the front or behind some seating. I'm thinking of going but I'm not familiar with the venue.
Shelfie

There is no standing room at all in the Melbourne or the Adelaide venues.
I would have MUCH prefered a GA show but there is no choice in these types of venues.

Hey Guys,
Just joined up for this messge board today as thought I'd join in the festivities. Can only afford to do Sydney this time, but got my tix today and got row D. Happy with that! I'm still going to try on Friday and if I get better than D, I'll sell it. Will let you all know.
Does anyone think there is a shot at a second show if things go crazy on Friday? I know Crowded House go on sale the same day, so might hurt sales a little due to similar fan base.
Anyway, :guitarsolo

Its hard to say..... I was upstairs at the Enmore for the Cold Roses tour and everyone pretty much sat down for the majority of the set.
People who stood up tended to get told to sit down pretty quick by those behind them....I guess it depends on the crowd dynamic.

Yeah, when I first tried buying tickets during the presale I bought a pair in row K, but then decided I could do better and I did! So I sold the spares on that day, which was nice.
I wanted to add that it's kind of a bummer Ryan's playing a sit-down venue this time around. He tore the roof off The Palace last time he was here and I wanted a repeat of that, so I secretly hoped he'd play the Forum or the Metro. No such luck. I wonder if this means we're getting a low key gig.
Though, having said that...I did see Elvis Costello at the Palais a few years ago and my butt never touched my seat again once he came on stage.

I'm quite happy with H at the Palais. The insider view is that G & H rows at the Palais are the prime rows for viewing and listening, being at the same level of the stage in height terms. I have seen Emmylou Harris and the Dixie Chicks from those seats and they were excellent.
I queued at an outlet this morning and was delighted to get H row in the dead centre of the row.

I was lucky to be at the counter just before the sale opened and the girl there was primed to hit the button. Far less stressful than going through the online booking process. I was a mental wreck after Mondays pre-sale scramble.
Also the advantage of queuing at an outlet is that you don't pay a booking fee and you get your tickets straight away.

I'm curious too. I initially thought it was the same place - they have the same address (Lower Esplanade, St Kilda) and Palais is French for Palace...??

No, I'm pretty sure they are different places. The Palace was set to be bulldozed last I heard, the Palais is still around, although its being refurbished at the end of the year.

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/fire-rages-in-nightclub/2007/07/11/1183833580734.html
The fire at the iconic Palace nightclub in St Kilda has been contained, although 16 fire trucks and up to 50 personnel remain at the scene.
Earlier, fears were held for the neighbouring heritage-listed Palais Theatre.
Today's fire means the Palace nightclub is now very likely to be demolished.
It was confirmed that the Palais Theatre next door was unaffected.

Yep, I just read The Age and it said the area had been cordoned off by police as a crime scene.
There is a big entertainment precinct planned for that part of St Kilda and it's been pretty controversial with the locals. Part of the development would see The Palace get knocked down (no need now) and The Palais given a major facelift.

Yeah, but it wasn’t Liam givin' a mouth full it was Tim Rogers in full flight on his way up to a hotel room. Obvious not to check out the in house movies.
My friend told me that he and two of his mates were all Mods and massive Oasis fans. When Oasis toured Australia (i cant really remember the date, early 00's i think) My friend and his buddies were like 17 or 18, didn’t have girls just loved hanging out in my friends converted garage apartment smoking fags and listening to tunes every night. Anyway when they came to Brisbane they found out where Oasis would be staying, i think it was from riding around on my friend’s vespa for hours that gave them the tip. So the three of they just hung out in front of the hotel taking turns at smoking fags and riding the vespa up and down the street pass the hotel, obviously so they could catch a glimpse of a serious do through the front windows of the hotel. I’m not sure how long they kept the vigil for but my friend managed to spot Noel coming out of the Hotel to have a fag. He walked right up to the guys and stood there with them havin' and smoke. (I think there was a report of a near fatal scooter accident that day). He just stated to chat to the fellas and asked where the best pubs were nearest to the hotel. They talked, smoked my friend asked for an autograph and then Noel sauntered back inside. They were so blown away and then whilst there were high-fivin' Tim Rogers rocks up and gives them a face full of abuse, tellin' them to f** off. Anyway my friend now managing a band and that band played support to You am I at a gig in a shopping centre carpark (there were like 20 people in the crowd tops) and back stage Tim Rogers stayed in the vans not talking to anyone for most of it) but when he emerged he got talking to my friend. My friend of course being the guys he is basically said to Tim you told me to f** off mate once and look at us now!!!

Bob Evans is supporting Ryan for one of the Sydney dates.
Heya folks!
I am thrilled to announce that I will be scooting across to Sydney for one special night only, supporting Ryan Adams at the Enmore Theatre on Friday August 24th in solo mode.
There will be some more announcements to come regarding some one off shows here and there. I am supposed to be on holiday but there are some things I just can't say no to! Sharing the stage with Ryan Adams being one of them......
Am busy demoing new Bob songs in my new little studio and also doing lots of other interesting stuff which is most exciting! Feels great to be back in creative mode again although I'm shitting myself at the prospect of putting out more than one album next year! Although Ryan Adams seems to do it all the time! Ahhh.....tis all making sense now.......
Cheers all!
