The newly departed member of Drive-By Truckers has a new album out this past Tuesday. I've only heard a couple of the tracks, but it sounds really good. Anyone pick it up?

According to Amazon, it's available across the sea:

I have listened to the whole thing many times and it is enjoyable, I havent listened to a lot of DBT but I feel like it is a bit different, it was just reviewed by P4K today if you are interested in what they have to say

I am a huge Truckers fan, and I dig it. It is not as solid as I was hoping considering how awesome his stuff was on Decoration Day and Dirty South. Still worth a pick up though, Chicago Promenade is unreal.

Thanks for the info -- I'll be sure to check it out the next time I'm at the record shop. :upyours

If I had to make a year end list today, this would top it. I really think he's going to break out something fierce with this record.
Also, if you get a chance to see him this go around, do so. I saw him a couple weeks ago and he and his band are super tight. Played most of the album, a bunch of his DBT material, and some choice covers. Great time.

I just ordered this from Amazon uk. Apparently the release date is 16 July (so they say). I haven't listened to any of the tracks but love DBT so I imagine I will like it.

Still waiting for Amazon to take their own sweet time with this. The CDs always seem to turn up eventually.

I think it starts off quite weak, especially that mainly acoustic song. But it progressively gets stronger.

Maybe my copy will come tomorrow and I'll be able to comment.

It's solid. Brand New Kind of Actress is a bit of a throwaway for me, but pretty much like the rest of it. I saw him in Philly on Sat night and it was a very solid show. The 400 Unit is a great band behind him too. Get into it.

Been listening to this a couple of times today. It's a pretty excellent and I probably didn't like the start because I wasn't paying attention but now I love it. It's a lot less ROCK than DBT but those dirty guitars are still there. Great record. :upyours
'In A Razor Town' is my favourite, for sure.

Ooh dirty guitars. I still haven't been by the record shop to pick it up, but I'm appreciating all the reviews.

My copy still hasn't arrived. I've got to stop using mail order - or at least trying to save on postage by having everything delivered in one parcel.

Where do you order from, Rosie?

Amazon UK. Usually they're very good but I do try and save postage by putting orders together and I think I misread the release date for the Josh Rouse album.

Ahah. I'm not familiar with them too much since I use play.com (who, coincidentally, are painstakingly slow buggers too). :)
