What do you think of the new album?

Pop pretensions? same as the others or revolutionary new sound? way better than neon bible?

i just read this article where a Spoon review incited all this debate about neon bible and the hype of the music industry? what do you think?

I don't understand. Why'd you delete the link? I'm not a PR machine, I'm a real music fan/critic. I actually posted one of the comments on that article, it got too heated for a comments section and I was just wondering what others thought. I feel like the argument regarding Neon Bible and hype is apropos regarding Spoon, because seriously? Spoon is pretty hype-ridden themselves. It's a valid debate. They also reviewed Easy Tiger last week too. I suppose you'll delete this link as well, but isn't this what forums are for? Music fans to discuss and research what's being said about their favorite bands?

Again, I don't get it.

If I was selling something, maybe, but we're valid music critics. This is WHAT WE DO, talk about music and publish it... Wrong? How are people supposed to find other places that people are writing about music that they like?

You are selling a magazine. In order to attract advertisers, you need to ensure you have lots of readers. Hence, you spam here.

call me naive, (well i'm not naive enough to give a perfect stranger my personal info) but I'm a valid music fan/critic. If I didn't care about the music why would I put hours of effort into writing reviews and articles and debating about it each week? I mean really, I think you're a bit jaded. I'm not Rolling Stone. We don't run off ads. Labels send us music to review or we request them, yes, we make money, but believe you me, I'm by no means rolling in any kind of richness....seriously. 27 in San Francisco, working for a budding music mag. I just think you've gone overboard. You're not even interested in the Ryan Adams review????? I'm still confused. You're more interested in Harry Potter truffle trivia, than what music magazines are saying about your favorite band????? I don't know what to say. It's kinda effed up. Whatever.

I see you critique message boards as well. How flexible.

You are spamming the board. Spamming is not allowed here. Okay?

How are my links more advertising than "our latest music related purchases"? that's blatantly about selling shit, but that's up there?
It's a weekly online music magazine-----we review new music and discuss older foundational musicians of rock n roll. If you're so concerned, you should check it out. I really believe in it. Sorry you're so jaded that you can't believe that there are realy music fans out there who really care about the state of rock journalism and are sad that its been taken over by mags like Rolling Stone and Spin that are much more controlled by what you're concerned with--advertising and Big Media. We're trying to get away from that stuff--indies and downloads and links to free music for up and coming artists...call me evil, but I believe in the music. It's the music.

Oh for Christ's sake - did you even read the Recent Music Related Purchases thread? No, of course not.

Legitimate posters (you know, people who post on message boards for reasons other than self interest and single-handedly saving the alternative music scene) are fully entitled to recommend music to other members.

You are welcome to post here. But if your sole reason for posting is to promote your magazine, then it will be considered spam.
