Saw the G'town show tonight...a mere hour and 20 minute show...

You can tell the Cardinals are a bunch of guys you would have a beer with while ol' Rye is Mr. Panties-in-a-wad.....everything's going reasonably well and then Ryan jets off with the rest of the band...crowd cheering them on to come back out..probably for 10 to 15 minutes...then the roadies came to disassemble everything...no encore..not two words from Ryan the whole show...zero interaction with the audience. I understand he didn't come to do stand-up or give a lecture, but not even an encore or a "goodnight"???!!! Apparently, he was too injured by all the flash photography to go on playing...I'll remember that next time he rolls through and I'm too injured to fork over $35 to see a guy who thinks he's gonna be buried next to Jim Morrison.

No sweat big Rye...Tweedy's coming with his band and by the time they are done no one will care if he does an encore because they will have played for 3hours.

Seems as if Ryan's shows aren't anymore stable than in the past.

2 hours 20 mins one night, 1 hour 20 mins the next

:\

Surprised he didn't talk to the crowd. He wouldn't shut up last night.

I was thinking that too. That's a really big time difference from one show to the next.

It must be hard to be a Cardinal.

Is it a well known fact that Brad and Spacewolf used to be in a band together like 9 years ago? I had no idea until they told me that last night, and that's how Space ended up in the Cards.

different perspective posted by theunrealcity

this was the MOST unbelivably flawless show - of any band - that i have EVER seen in my ENTIRE life. The setlist was to die for, the performance was phenomenal, the venue was great - acoustics were super, the crowd was 99.9% respectful - AND - did a five minute+ standing ovation after the band went offstage and after Rock the Casbah came and after the house lights were up.

I got into a car accident (that totaled my car) 2 hours before the show started (mind you, after driving 15 hours from Florida to Memphis) and I still had the best time of my life. It doesn't matter how long you drove to get there, or what happens before or after, it's about an incredible performance.

Pretty much sums it up, but it was a fantastic show while it lasted. The crowd was great, being perfectly quiet when they needed to be. Peaceful Valley was unreal and the show really picked up in energy towards the end. It was really surprising to see no encore because of the respectful crowd, but makes sense given Ryan's mood. Or maybe GPAC has a 10pm curfew?

Any thoughts on Ryan's changes of moods from night to night? Before we always put it down to drink/pharms - now? Is he just a pissy guy or what? Sometimes he's Mr Cheeky himself and the next night he's Mr Sullen. Strikes me as a bit odd that's all.

I will write a more detailed review later (hangover recovery comes first), but this was the 2nd best show I've ever seen from him. I really don't mind him not talking...he was all business last night and I thought it was phenomenal. The Cardinals are tight as hell...from playing to harmonies...just flawless. The lighting setup was amazing...very cool. I'm almost glad he didn't come back out and chance ruining anything. For "Goodnight Hollywood Blvd," he stood up and walked to the very front of the stage where another mic was standing...then they kicked in the song and he stood there and sang his ass off. It was the perfect closer. At several times during the show I got chills from his voice...it's really that good on this tour. A little surprising there was no encore...especially with the way the crowd behaved...but it still rocked my world.

Peace,

SBM

No encore in Philly either. And the crowd wasn't shy about letting the band know they expeced one.
