This was in impossible...I went with REM, Pet Sounds and Elvis. Although, GP, Oasis, VM and Wilco could have easily made it.

I went... Pet Sounds, Daydream Nation, Automatic for the People. Might wish I had gone another way further down the track.

Gram Parsons, Leonard Cohen and Counting Crows. :)

I'm happy to see some solid voting for Counting Crows.
August is a brilliant album that I think gets overlooked by the music snobs sometimes simply because it was an enormous commercial success.

that and automatic for the people were the first albums i really bought on CD form. i had to go with REM just becayse my history with them has been longer. saw teh counting crows at the 9:30 in DC. what a great band they once were.

I think the Crows recent albums have had their moments, but overall, been a bit disappointing.

And btw, you can vote for three artists in every round in this poll Jack. Its too late now (you have to vote for all three in one go) but you'll know for next time. :upyours

The first CD's I ever bought were:
Counting Crows - August and Eveything After
Weezer - The Blue Album (I should have nominated it or Pinkerton for this poll)

August is probably in my top 5 all time. And I agree This Desert Life and Hard Candy were steps back compared to August and Recovering the Satellites.

Only Either/Or I'm afraid. None of the others do it for me. I think I must have very narrow musical tastes.

Why (WTS)MG and not Definitely Maybe?

Sydneyfan

I just went with the albums people nominated. I can't remember if Definitely Maybe was even suggested.

Why didn't we think of that? I love both those albums.

I'm surprised The Stones didn't get a single vote.

Okay, The Stones and Leonard Cohen are gone. But we have a tie between Oasis and Van Morrison. Tiebreaker coming up.
