And we have a setlist....

Sydneyfan

No encore, apparently a few songs left off the official setlist.

Other reports saying little or no talking to the audience throughout.

and just to prove you can never please all of the people, all of the time....here's a review from pacer1000:

GREAT, GREAT, GREAT.

Seriously. I've seen a gazillion, and I've NEVER heard a band sound this dead-on, soulful and sweet. Like ... they're fucken tight. There's no gettin' around it. It's scary. The whole show was like listening to them playing your living room.

PA house mix was killer. It was like having headphones on.

Ry did have some early vocal/guitar monitor issues. And Barbara Gordon went out of tune for "Magnolia," so he had to tune it midway through and again during the jazz bridge. It seemed to get to him a little, but he handled it like a PRO. He tuned while NC held "Magnolia" down, and he fought through it. Didn't throw a fit or anything.

The early break was ... interesting. They KILLED "What Sin," but then Ry seemed to want to tighten things up overall. Said something like "We're gonna work on a couple things." But it wasn't b/c of how the Cards sounded, cause they sounded like heaven.

Crowd was incredible. You could hear a pin drop the entire set. No joke. And the two people who yelled out dumb ass shit just got ignored.

Neal went deep on "Dear John." Brad was super-dynamic on the kit. Very fluid and powerful and smart. Mad bass from the Wolf. Slider was on (as always). Candy Man threw in some killer improv fills on "The End" and "Peaceful."

NC, TNT and Spacewolf were super into it. Ry really got into from the break on. AND HIS SINGING WAS SICK. SICK!!! So sick it deserves all caps. I'm gonna go on a huge, strong limb and call it the best vocal performance I've ever heard at a show before. No exaggeration. He fucking killed "The End," "Peaceful," "Cold Roses," "What Sin," and "Blue Sky Blues." So did the rest of the bros.

So ... the set may look short, but it really wasn't. It felt like 2.5 hours. Very deep and emotional and focused. The crowd seemed really happy and pleased after. A lot of chaps and gals standing around and smiling after. And the Cards seemed to appreciate the kind crowd, too.

and here's one from T-red 7782:

Tonight's show fucking SUCKED!!! i dropped 187 dollars on tix, parking and gas to see him wank on weak ass acoustic guitars with no emotion all night long. He seemed destined to try and please SF critics who would speak of his new "sober and focused efforts..." Santa cruz was amazing, tonight was boring and a waste of money.

Re: San Francisco ShowAuthor: T_red7882 7/24/07 3:26:04 AM Lets also not forget that he played from 940-1220 in santa cruz, while he played from 810-1003 tonight, witha 12 minute break in there. tonight was like listening to easy tiger; boring, acoustic and no heart or emotion. I can't believe i spent almost 200 dollars on a show that is up there with my worst of all time. Who the hell does ryan adams think he is??? an all acoustic show???? If he's gonna do that, he should just do it with himself a guitar, like i saw him at the palace of fine arts in SF, aril 06. it was brilliant. Tonight was bullshit, complete and utter bullshit. I'm so fucking enraged, i am not a rich man, and i just wasted 200 dollars that coulda been spent on my own musical endeavors. that fucking prick needs to get back on speedballs and show some emotion.

 Such contradicting reviews.
I'm going to believe pacer's.
T-red is just too fucking enraged and possibly too full of complete and utter bullshit to be credited. Who the hell does he think he is? Indeed, he should just go concentrate on his own musical endeavours :rolleyes

P.S. there's nothing wrong with Blue Cave :guitarsolo

Nope, we already knew it would be Blue b/c it wasn't listed as a Red Cave (= Santa Cruz, Berkeley, Boise, and Red Rocks).

i forget where, but i remember reading an article with ryan before Easy Tiger came out where he was talking about learning a thing or two from the Dead. He mentioned that the fall tour would probably include an acoustic set and an electric set, similar to the Dead's 1980 ( and 1970 for that matter) Reckoning Tour. i havent been fortunate enough to see any of the shows this year, so i would still love to see an acoustic set, but an electric set is where the cardinals soar! so lets hope this happens!

I think T-red was just pissed because he didn't get the show he particularly wanted. Having said that the Santa Cruz show was always going to be hard to follow because it was so HOT. I like red and blue (blue marginally better) but it's not that important to me. Appears like it doesn't take much to get Ryan irritated and then it seems really hard for him to refocus.

Ha, so I believe. The guy was at the show. To me, he has a right to an opinion, even if he may be being overly harsh in his stance. Some other reviewers are probably being overly gushy and fan-boyish, so it evens out.

I was just ripping on the archive and FunkyAvocado. They wouldn't stand for that kind of blasphemy!
