I moved into an office today with some new mates and the topic of music came up and how they'd like to institute a music hour each day where we can share music. Very cool, right? Not so much... The artists they mentioned - and I am not making this up - Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, Jon Bon Jovi, ACDC...

Anybody else have to deal with music issues at work? Should I even bother??

Are they older people?
I used to make everyone listen to my music b/c I was the only one with a radio in our section, but I'd keep the volume moderately low.

Rod Stewart isn't bad, as long as it's Faces/early 70s stuff. :)

I got myself a good pair of headphones.

Two are my age (late 30s/early 40s), one about to retire (she told us she lusts for Jon Bon Jovi). And we are not talking cool Rod Stewart here, pretty sure we're talking about the Songbook stuff...

Funny thing. Just as I was reading the first post my friend started singing Manilow's 'Oh Mandy' over Skype. :lol

We're not allowed to listen to music (or wear headphones) in my office. This is probably a good thing.

I don't think I'd be able to make it though the day without having music playing. I'd go nuts.

I have my own office so I can play what I bloody well like except when my boss decides to share my office and he only likes Indian classical!! It's very hard finding music that more than one person likes - I have that problem at home not at work.

we take turns listenting to what we want. Person with most seniority starts first. If it's an overwhelming opinion tht the music sucks, it gets turned off. It's a compromise I guess. Most often it's classic rock or old school hip hop.
