The Cowboy Junkies DVD doesn't come out till October 8 in the UK and not till 2008 in the US. But it is shipping in late October or early November if you order it directly from the Junkies.

It is a stunning film, and Ryan appears, either playing or singing, on almost every track. There is a sample up at http://www.cowboyjunkies.com

In the interest of full disclosure, I do work for the Junkies. But I am a huge RA fan.

I watched this clip. I think I'll buy this although I am unfamiliar with Cowboy Junkies.

A bit more information:

Cowboy Junkies had a breakthrough record recorded in 1987 called The Trinity Session. Most famous from it was their cover of the Velvet Underground's Sweet Jane.

Last November, they returned to Trinity Church in Toronto (where the original album was recorded in 1987 with one microphone in one day for about $250), with Ryan, Natalie Merchant and Vic Chesnutt. Ryan sings lead on at least 2 tracks and harmony on a few others. He plays on almost every track, and plays drums on one of them. Ryan is a huge fan of the band, and the band is a huge fan of his. It was a fantastic session.

They'll try to recreate the magic in London early next month at Royal Albert Hall...
