I really wish we couldn't see poll results and instead of playing these strategies to save certain songs, we actually got genuine results...

I don't think not seeing the results would change what songs getting voted off. The order might change, but it's a fun thing to bicker about what song should go and what not.

I don't think it fits very well on Disc 1. I love every song on this album (besides Rosebud) immensely.

What is going on? Friends is tragic and has some of the best lyrics of the whole album... "This afternoon with you was something like a letter / The kind that someone writes but never sends." GAH!!!

Woops. I only today realized what the song "Rosebud" is about. I'm so slow, and soooo dense. Between not knowing what the song was about and the song's unfortunate positioning between the best songs on disc 2 I always found it sort of blah and ...cutesy?

Oh well, I won't hate myself for it, I'm not sure what other song I'd have picked first.

I think if the competition were disc 1 or disc 2 - disc 2 would be the survivor. If there's songs on disc 2 that we don't like as much, they come more quickly to mind (at least for me) because I've heard disc 2 elelventy billion times more than disc 1.

"behind a wall of glass" "i took a photograph" "shipwrecked up on the ohio"
it's a great testament to Ryan's songwriting. and how much he loves Jerry and his Guitar.

Disc 1 is where it's at.

He makes it sound so sad to see a "musical machine" stuck where it can't be used.

If Magnolia Mountain were on disc 2 then disc 1 might have gotten somewhat dusty (only somewhat because all of Cold Roses is at least great - this whole survivor thing with this album is pretty difficult.)

Disc 2 has a whole mess of real moving, powerful stuff all in a row (except Rosebud, which does not belong where it is because of its tempo. I would get up and press skip on the CD player at that point.)

The disc discussion doesn't really apply to me anymore since I just load up a mess of songs on the computer and play them in random order now. Hearing some of the things live that I overlooked before has also made a big difference.

Easy Plateau again - I really don't like that song. It grates on my nerves. I was feeling principled and couldn't vote tactically for any song that I liked more that EP.

beautiful sorta is one of my faves from all his songs. I didn't think it would be gone within the first 3 rounds...interesting.

There's just too many darn good songs on this album. I don't dislike it, but it ranks lower because I love this album.
