it is an odd one, its kinda like a 'good effort' award. maybe just a little recognition for all the albums he's put out in the past as well as putting shitloads of stuff online. who knows, but if anyone deserves a merit award (and theyre not still in school) its ryan!
quite a few odd ones there, is there really any need for a Q hero, a lifetime achievement, inspiration and god knows what else award?? anyway, nice to see Ian Brown and Johnny Marr get a nod.

HA! muse.. outstanding live acts?! yea they sound amazing, i know i know, i've seen them in concert... simply amazing. BUT i heard they had at least 9 tracks running for there shows, and only about 4 others actually open.

Yeah, but their music has a shit ton of things going on underneath. It may not be all live, but they are still amazing performers...and their parts they play live...

people who buy records pay attention to Q.
therefore, having him there makes people aware of him and then may go buy his records.

I was still interested in seeing Ryan at the ceremony, so I searched out the speechs and photos and could not find him. So I asked Q on MySpace why they left him out. Here's the reply:

He was at the ceremony, but sadly had a funny turn before his award came up.

Supposedly. When I posted the question, it didn't go directly on the board. It had to be "approved", then when it finally showed up, that reply came behind it. I assume that it is a legitimate Q magazine page, but who knows? Perhaps it isn't since none of you have heard about anything unusual happening that night. :\

That's a really odd reply, it doesn't really say anything. I guess if nothing else, people who have access to Q magazine and keep an eye on it & see if a pic appears in there at least.

What sort of "funny turn"?? Embarrassment?

I personally haven't seen any pics of him there anywhere so maybe he did make a quick exit. It's been kept pretty quiet if that is the case and raises more questions than it answers.

Yeah, at the very least it's very strange to me that they honored him with an award and NO WHERE is there a picture of him getting it. That in itself doesn't make sense.
