As much as my first reaction is to be happy for him, getting recognition, I'm guessing he hates it. More people to deal with.

It may be about the money but I'm not sure from RA's perspective and I'm not sure he wants the mega-fame thing either. LH I think probably want to milk him for all they can while they still have the chance.

Shouldn't they have done this in August or September?
Faded Rose

No - a little and often works better than flooding the market place. It is a little close to Follow the Lights though. How much longer have LH got Ryan for - does anyone know?

geez, these releases are getting a bit ridiculous. How about they release something we want. I'm sure they'll put at least 1 new song on this so everyone will go buy it.

According to this website that I usually buy my cds from the Everybody Knows EP is basically Follow The Lights with Everybody Knows as an extra track. They have also removed Follow the Lights from their list of upcoming releases.

i'm getting tired of this crap.
the more i see this stuff, the LESS i want to listen to ET because the 14-year old punk who still lives inside my head tells me I'm "selling out" to "The Man".
Faded Rose
10-16-2007, 04:24 PM
:confused - I'm totally confused. Are we getting Follow the Lights and Everybody Knows or has one replaced the other? Are they both EPs? Why didn't he just release a double album and be done with it?

It seems to me that the Everybody Knows EP is just the European version. Seeing as you can only get Follow the Lights on import here

It seems like 'Everybody Knows EP' replaces 'Follow the Lights' in Europe.
The reason for adding "Everybody knows" is because "Everybody knows" will be playedduring an episode of Grey's Anatomy.
That's at least what my source said.
Ryan Adams is also credited for the cover picture.

SEE! Frightening.
I dont want bubbleheaded, stereotypical college girls being like "OMG I LUV RYAN ADAMS! HE'S SO HAWT!" every time they hear him.
Or using his music to simulate that they have emotional depth.
Has anyone else noticed that happens with the Fray?
These girls are all like "i really feel what he's saying. it's just how i feel..."
things could get bad, people.

Some random girl started gushing to my friend about James Blunt the other day. How he has this soulful quality and his songs are so meaningful, etc. :rolleyes PUKE
ewok.online
10-17-2007, 08:19 AM
that's exactly what i'm talking about.
but here's the confusing part.
Ryan is soulful and meaningful.
so, is it a bad thing that he finds an audience that thinks he is, even if it's for 5 minutes with a record that's just O.K. like ET?
maybe that's been the whole point.
i knew right away from hearing Two that it would melt college chicks.
i tested my thesis, and i was correct.

I really don't think its that big of a deal people.
1 song in a popular show isn't going to increase the douchyness of a crowd (Where, lets be honest here, has been pretty high without help from Generic TV hospital dramas).
And turning the EP into an extended single is that big of a deal anyway.
Just be glad they aren't breaking it up into a 4 part single. Or breaking it up over 2 different singles.

Hasn't he already been on House & Scrubs? :upyours
Hasn't Ryan said that he makes a lot of money from having his songs in movies/tv shows, so he doesn't really care what it's in?

those shows dont have the habit of beating the songs to death, though.
Hasn't Ryan said that he makes a lot of money from having his songs in movies/tv shows, so he doesn't really care what it's in?
very true. i believe he once used the term "a pool made of unicorn bones" to describe how much money he made off of the Tim McGraw cover.

That's selling your soul to Mammon (Definition of Mamon may be more accurate):
You Dumbfucks, A Mamon Is A Stupid Dumass Who Says The Most Stupid Things & Is Basically A Bullshitter.

Well, I agree that I hope this kind of thing doesn't happen with him/his music, but I'm not quite as worried about it yet. He has had his music in a lot of movies/TV shows already and it hasn't happened, so I don't see it changing that much out of nowhere.
On a kind of similar note, does anyone watch Californication? On an episode I watched awhile ago I swear they played Ryan covering Rocket Man but I don't know for sure & wondered if I was nuts.

wouldnt people be complaining if he wasnt releasing anything? it is a little bit silly releasing the same thing twice (in a sense) but from a marketing point of view, europeans are meant to buy Everybody Knows, and other people are meant to buy Follow The Lights. no one has to buy both

His songs have been on television a lot lately, not only the medical shows but a Whiskeytown song on Friday Night Lights that I can't remember and Nightbirds on Bones.

HONESTLY, I really don't think its going to be a huge thing, people are going say "what the fuck, who is that" but still no Fray shit, they got big because of VH1 over zeluous horrible taste in music that thry brainwashed into older parents' heads, I mean my mom lstens to that one chick KT tunestall or something, but then again she likes Justin Timberlake and Three 6 mafia, so I don't know much anymore
but a guy has to make his money somehow besides selling out shows you know?
