I only have a couple lined up so far:

Bright Eyes -- 2nd Nov/07, Garrick Center, Winnipeg
Josh Ritter -- 1st March/08, West End Cultural Center, Winnipeg

I had 5th row seats for Bright Eyes, but apparently they didn't sell many tickets and they're got moved to the Garrick, which is nearly half the size and GA. Now I'll have to fight some emos to get a close seat, but I don't think I'll bother -- the venue's small enough.

Sounds good.

I'm considering The Pogues and James Yorkston around Christmas time if I can afford it.

Should be great. The Basement is a really small club, so it should be ideal for a Patty Griffin show.

And I would kill to go to a Pogues gig. Judging from the the reports of their most recent US shows, they still have plenty of energy.

Quincy
11-04-2007, 05:12 PM

Got last minute tickets to John Cale over the weekend. He and the band did a 90-minute set with no encore after he lost his voice. But they sounded great.

I'd go to Andrew Bird if I was going to be in Melbourne at the time, but nah. First time I saw him was solo and this time he'll have his band. I guess I'll have to see him another time. I'd go to PJ Harvey if she wasn't charging a king's ransom.

Jon Brion and others - December, 2007 in LA
Rufus Wainwright - February 1st, 2008 at Hamer Hall in Melbourne
St. Jerome's Laneway Festival - February 24th, 2008, Melbourne

Yeah, I was a bit surprised at how expensive the PJ Harvey tickets were, but I'm a big fan so it'll be worth it for me. It's at the nicest theatre in the city here in Auckland too, so that adds a bit more to the value for me.
I've seen here twice before, but it was a Big Day Out both times and it's just not the same as a real show.

Those V Festivals were announced quite a while ago now. I remember after they were announced I was waiting for NZ shows to be announced but after a few weeks I gave up. Then they announced 3 NZ shows out of the blue a couple of weeks ago. Then I was told I was being sent to Melbourne for work and it times perfectly with the V Fest there, so I went from being resigned to not seeing them at all, to seeing them 3 times in 2 different countries.
Not sure how likely it is for Australian sideshows, it's pretty close now and I would have thought that they would have been announced at the same time as the NZ shows. If they do one in Melbourne on the Thursday or the Friday though, I'll be there for sure.

Off to see Feist May 21st, Royal Albert Hall - Wherever that is.

:guitarsolo
You'll have a great time regardless of the venue - I saw Feist on Friday. The band is terrific and Leslie is really sweet and funny.

I'm pissed because I read in the paper today that Bon Iver played at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston this past Saturday :(

But I'm really excited to see Joe Purdy for my first time, Wednesday night. He's opening for the Beautiful Girls, who I've never seen before.

going to watch Evan Dando (of the Lemonheads) in Swansea on Monday night!

When I saw him, he was completely wasted/drunk. I don't know which, but he bent over the stage and handed my friend his guitar pick to let her strum. She hit it a few times, and then handed it to me. I started strumming. He gave me the nod of approval, and then let me strum the rest of the song while he changed the chords.

So I added Lemonheads guitarist to my resume. Do you think that makes me more or less employable?
