I'm rocking the buzz cut. I cut it every 2 weeks with the 1/8 inch attachment.

My hair is currently the shortest it's ever been in my life. I've always had it super long, but in Sept. I was just getting irritated with it and decided to to something new. I went in and had it layered, at chin length. My hair dresser thought I was kidding, she had fun with it though. I dyed it like a bright cherry red at the time, but it faded really fast so I dyed it myself at home last month a dark burgendy color. I've been going some form of dark red since I was in junior high, but when I chopped it off my hair dresser talked me into doing a different kind of color too. I actually really liked it, but it's just too hard to keep up like that, and I'm too cheap to pay her to do it that often.

Unless you have a very short torso, that is a substantial cut.

Thanks to my father's genes, I was born with insanely frizzy, kinky, curly, unmanageable hair. Then I got it straightened. Boy, is it easier to deal with. I can make it wavy or do pretty much anything. At the moment I have a slight layer thing happening in the front, but no photo of it. I wonder if I'll ever get tired of having straight hair.

at the risk of sounding a bit gay, ive been thinking of getting my hair chemicaly straightened, is that what you did with yours? how long does the process take and how long does it last?
your hair looks nice by the way

I have normally curly hair, but I straighten it in the morning to make it mop-ish, with the fringe parted over to the side to keep me from going crazy. But since I had the day off today, it's nice and messy.

You don't sound gay at all. Maybe just a bit metro. ;)
Yeah, I chemically straightened it. The length of time depends on the amount and length of hair. So mine usually takes a few hours because I have long hair and a whole lot of it. (Thanks, dad!)

And thank you for the compliment. I've had a lot of little inner monologues about my hair over the years. I cried a lot of tears over it when I was a kid because it just didn't do what I wanted it to and it didn't look the way I thought it should. Superficially speaking, I think the straight hair suits my face a little better, if that makes sense. I find that I receive a lot of compliments on it and most people are shocked when they discover my hair's been chemically straightened. I tip my stylist pretty generously because I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with my hair. That and he does good work.

I guess the way I justify it is that some people get plastic surgery or spend a lot of money on designer clothing. My one big ticket vanity item is my hair.

My hair was starting to get longish, but my hairs so thick and many, its to irrating, gets very knotty and hot. Even though I get it layered and thinned aswell. So the other week late one evening I asked my boyfriend to cut it to my chin, its like a modern blonde bob now. Could have been a disaster but I love it looks great IMO.

i haven't had a haircut since may... i'm starting to think i should get one.

it was chin length and with a fringe when i arrived in london 2 years ago, and now it's past my shoulder blades getting towards the middle of my back, with shorter bits at the front.

ishellmay, yours looks great!

my hairdresser back at home in oz apparently went to rehab and dissapeard while i've been away. which kinda sucks. she was kooky but great at cutting hair. most of the time. depending what she was on at the time...

I spend almost no time on my hair. (Who has time!?) It hasn't been cut in months. (Who has time!?) This thread reminds me that I need to schedule an appointment! (If I can find some time!)

Anyway it's fairly straight and past my shoulder blades. I had fringe but it's grown out to almost be able to tuck behind my ears now.

I was fairly lucky to be born hair that's very straight. I just cut it from about shoulder blade length to a cut similar to the one Rhett Miller sports on the cover of The Instigator. I have gotten hell from nearly everyone I know for cutting it.
