View Full Version : ***TBY's Top 25 Albums of 2007***

Sydneyfan

Here it is thrillseekers....your chance to determine which 25 albums TBYers loved best this year.

Here's the groundrules:

1. Post your Top 10 albums for 2007 in descending order here.

2. All albums must have been released in 2007 in your home country. Compilations and re-releases are not permitted. Live albums and posthumous releases are fine.

3. If you don't have 10 new releases, just list what you can. Please don't just add random albums to your list that you haven't heard as this will distort the final result. Yes, I'm anal.

The albums you list will be awarded points, your Number 1 album will be awarded 14 points (this gives it a bonus for being your best loved) and the rest will be awarded 9 to 1 points in descending order.
When everyone has submitted their lists, we will tally up the points and the Top 25 will be revealed.

This will be open for a while, so you still have plenty of time to plan your list.

Just a quick note, when I said descending order I meant from the highest ranked album to the lowest (1 to 10). That probably wasn't made very clear, sorry.

If people could rank then 1 to 10 from now on, that would be great.

Mine is most likely going to shake some heads. I have thought indie rock has been dead for awhile, everyone is trying to re-invent the wheel, and my list pretty much shows how I feel about the whole 'Pitchfork Scene.'

1. Kelly Clarkson - My December
2. of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
3. Straylight Run - The Needles The Space
4. The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band - The Gospel Album
5. Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing

7. Eddie Vedder - Into The Wild

Yikes, that clause just adds even more albums into my list of contenders. It's hard enough as it is :\

This was more difficult than I though. It was difficult to sort through all of the mediocre/bad/disappointing albums that came out this year.

1. Jason Isbell--Sirens of the Ditch
2. Bruce Springsteen--Magic
3. Lucinda Williams--West
4. Feist--The Reminder
5. Shins--Wincing the Night Away
6. Iron and Wine--The Shepherd's Dog
7. Elliott Smith--New Moon
8. Lyle Lovett and His Large Band--It's Not Big It's Large
9. RA-Easy Tiger
10. Joe Purdy--Take My Blanket and Go

The absence of Lucinda Williams on the lists so far is kind of surprising. Guess this just isn't really her crowd.

I've always been a fan of mellow Eddie, so this album was like a dream come true when it came out. The only real problem with it is that even with the added protest song tracks it's much too short.

hmmm, I'm not familiar with the release, but Wiki describes it as a double compilation album. If that's accurate, then it probably shouldn't be included because we excluded compilation albums from the criteria.
If that's not a correct description, let me know though. :)

No, I think that's correct, one less to try and squeeze into my list then:P

I suppose the same goes for the Magnolia Electric Co. box set too, since parts of the sessions it is made from have previously been released?

Nope, in all the shock of Rob's RAA infraction I forgot to set one. I guess we are done though. Didn't skort want to do the sums as well?

I retract my offer to do the tabulations. Too much shit going on for the time being. Also, it appears Starlite already did it so it'd be a little redundant for me to do it.

In a just world, Magic by Springsteen would win this poll. I don't know that it will though.

I kept track of the list for a brief period (maybe a week after it got started) and I seem to recall that Magic was pretty high up. Like top 3 or something close to that.
