So I think it's safe to say that the Jayhawks are one of the best alt-country bands of the 1990's. Has anyone else here heard of them? If so, what are your favorite songs?

I have heard of them. I have seen them live. Hollywood Town Hall's my fave record from them.

Gary Louris' new tunes are here: www.myspace.com/garylouris

Hollywood Town Hall is a classic. I like Rainy Day Music too.

Never really gotten into them heavily. Their stuff is kind of spotty to me--even within records. I love some of their tunes and can't get into others. Seems to be about 50-50 on likes and dislikes for me.

I just got Hollywood Town Hall this month and really liked it. Not sure what to get next, though.

Jayhawks are one of my favorites. Hollywood Town Hall, Rainy Day Music and my favorite, Tomorrow the Green Grass are amazing. I think they have song of the best albums of the 90s, if not ever.

Love the Jayhawks. Seen them a whole bunch of times, not to mention Gary Louris popping up at dozens of other people's shows. I'd get Rainy Day Music next, if I were you.

Skortburn: Either Rainy Day Music or Tomorrow the Green Grass.

These two albums are very different from each other. I personally think Tomorrow the Green Grass is a work of complete genius.

To add to the conversation, I'll list my favorite songs from each cd. Feel free to Add or remove at your whim.

Tomorrow the Green Grass:
Blue
Two Hearts
I'd Run Away
Real Light
Over My Shoulder

Rainy Day Music:
Stumbling Through the Dark (Acoustic Version)
Angelyne
Save It For a Rainy Day
Will I See You in Heaven
