I'm trying to decide which sort of music-related poll we should run next, and at this stage I'm leaning toward a "Best Album of the Decade" approach ie: Best Album of the 70's, 80's etc.
Would people be interested in this type of elimination poll?? And should I start in the 60s or 70s? If I use the same format as previous contests, I will need a minimum of 48 albums, so it has to be an era that people are relatively familiar with.
Feedback appreciated and if anyone has any other contest ideas, we'd love to hear them.

I'd say start with the 60s. There's some classic albums in there. I'd also say skip the 80s because I don't even think I could name 48 albums I've heard from that decade. :P

Sounds like a good idea to me, C.

Yeah, but all the really good Pogues albums are from the 80s. So I have to do that decade. And The Pogues have to win. Yes. :upyours

I'm hopeless - I'm not familiar with music that was released before the 90s :o

I'm good with this. And, as M said, we should start with the 60s. :upyours

Definitely start with the 60s. I don't think we should miss out any of the decades - there must be some good albums in all of them.

Great idea! I pretty much agree with the group. I think start with the 60's and don't leave out the 80's! So your 48 will include multiple genres? Just throw them all in there and let the votes sort them out?
Sydneyfan
01-18-2008, 04:18 PM
Yep, we will include all genres. The only criteria are the release date, it must be an LP and no compilations. Live albums are fine.
And, as suggested, I will start in the 1960s. Thanks for all the input, it's appreicated.
So, I'm now calling for submissions for best 60's albums.:guitarsolo

I can't believe I didn't remember it until now either, I've listened to it so much the last months. It's such a amazing album, the self-titled as well, I didn't realise they were released the same year.
