I did a brief little blog on a few of these things on my livejournal, but I think the folks who frequent the message boards might be a little more apt to find them useful.
This all started when I stumbled across an online article at PC World Canada
here (http://www.pcworld.ca/news/column/f91440850a01040801f4a74167665396/pg0.htm), which lead here (http://www.pcworld.ca//news/column/a095710b0a01040800f483b4983f6e12/pg0.htm) as well.
Anyway, links for various fun, useful, and free programs:
Artweaver (http://www.artweaver.de/index.php?en_version)
This is a nice little paint program that lets you use more realistic brush strokes, shapes, and media. Super fun times.
Stellarium (http://www.stellarium.org/)
Awesome for we astronomy geeks.
EDraw Mind Map (http://www.edrawsoft.com/freemind.php)
I LOVE this one. I just discovered exactly how useful this can be for writers and pretty much anyone who has to tackle occasional tough problem-solving.
Anyway, y'all's turn.
:D
