Japandroids - Celebration Rock (June)

Quote:

"On a lot of this new record, we actually tried to simulate the sound of what we thought the crowd would do during the songs," says King. "Dave and I were in the studio just screaming out as if we were in the audience at our own show." Fittingly, the new eight-song, sing-along-stuffed record-- which comes out in June on Polyvinyl-- is called Celebration Rock.

Japandroids once again recorded the album Vancouver studio The Hive with Post-Nothing engineer Jesse Gander. "That's always how we've done it," says King. "It's just that a lot more people are gonna hear it this time."

Celebration Rock includes the excellent 2010 single "Younger Us", a cover of the Gun Club's "For the Love of Ivy", along with six more relentlessly over-driven tracks that will most likely keep the "whoa-oh-ohs" going for quite some time. A new song from the album is expected to debut soon after SXSW, where the band are playing four sets, including one at our own day party on March 15.

Wait, you haven't even heard Post-Nothing?

I remember listening to some of it, and I remember not being impressed.

But if it does indeed sound like that, looks like I was wrong and didn't know what I was thinking. I seem to remember more electronic stuff? I'm probably getting confused.

The stuff they have recorded in the past year is much better than Post-Nothing. And Post nothing was better than their EPs/No Singles.
