Fuck yes.

These two tunes are more “straight” than I’d expected - Hey Ma wouldn’t feel out of place on BI/BI. Both solid tunes.

Ok with the straight tunes. I liked the last record, but always lost interest after a few songs.

Same here. Only a few on that album that I still listen to.

I think this record is gonna follow suit. Seems to be where his sound is at now.

Maybe that's the consensus and Justin took it to heart.

Still wish he'd go back to using a little more guitar. Or a lot more.

I really enjoyed the last album a lot. More so than the s/t. I think this one is shaping up quite nicely.

I love it too. Right up there with s/t. There are really moving moments on it for me.

I have a good friend who always complains about it and I always reply with “you sound like a Bends-era Radiohead fan complaining when Kid A came out, I’m sorry it’s gone over your head”, which shuts him up cause he loves Kid A and he knows it’s true.

Wait, I don't get it... are you saying he eventually came around to liking Kid A?

I really really want to like this album, so I'll cling to the possibility that if I initially don't, there still might be hope for me. :lol

Mmmm this album is tasty. A lot of Frank Ocean's Blonde and Endless vibes on it.

Re: Bon Iver - I,I (summer)

Really? I don' get that at all. I see it as an extension of 22 with a touch of Chance

I'll listen later.

Re: Bon Iver - I,I (summer)

First song iMi sounds like it drifted right off of Blonde or Endless...not surprising considering the James Blake involvement

Re: Bon Iver - I,I (summer)

But yeah, it's def a natural continuation of 22 and fusion of old sounds. Don't know anything about overall Chance aesthetics at all, aside from not liking his music from what I've heard of it.

Re: Bon Iver - I,I (summer)

So Sufjan Stevens did a live performance of Carrie and Lowell, and the ambient sound from Sh'Diah reminds me a lot of it. I want to give this album a couple of more listens before I decide. Justin really seems to be trying something new with each album, and I think when someone is experimenting a lot, it's really hard to decide on the quality right away. 22 is one of my favorite albums from the past few years entirely because of his trying new things that I hadn't really heard before. It's obviously a different genre of music, but listening to Bon Iver albums, for me, is similar to listening to Tom Waits albums. My first few listens are more like "okay, what exactly is he trying to do here?" And it's almost less of an "enjoyable" experience, but a super fulfilling experience of the art itself
