2 things:

The girl who drank the go-go juice (the daughter of the jabba woman) her ambition was to be a couponer like her mom. Nice.

On the same episode, the other girl who was competing was named Heaven. Good way to make sure your kid becomes a future stripper.

‘Toddlers & Tiaras’ mom sues media outlets for ‘sexualizing’ her daughter

January 27, 2012

It seems the controversy surrounding TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras” and its pint-sized stars is never-ending.

After one contestant dressed as Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman,” another, Isabella Barrett, was filmed singing LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It” at an event.

Barrett’s mother, Susanna, has since filed a lawsuit against TMZ, Huffington Post and Daily Mail Online, among other media outlets, for running stories that she alleges “sexualize” her 5-year-old daughter, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

“After this firestorm, I quickly protected my daughter by having cease and desist orders sent to most media outlets that ran the story,” Susanna said in a statement provided to CNN, adding, “I intend to clear my daughter’s name.”

Barrett also detailed her version of the events shown in a video published by TMZ. (In the video, Isabella can be seen singing along to “Sexy and I Know It” at a DJ booth with a microphone in her hand.)

News organizations reported that the Barrett’s were at a nightclub, however, Susanna said in her statement that she and her daughter were actually at “a pet friendly charity event at an American bistro restaurant in New York City at 7:19 p.m. It was a private well-lit event with vendor tables and pets in attendance.”

Honey boo boo child is getting her own TV show. Of course on TLC. Here are some appalling honey boo boo moments, apparently.

You'd think some jerk would go shoot up one of these events for a change instead of schools and movies... it'd be almost justifiable.

Custody at Risk After 'Toddlers & Tiaras' Star Wears Controversial Outfit

The woman who dressed her young daughter as Dolly Parton - complete with a padded bra and sculpting underwear - for a child beauty pageant that aired on TLC's "Toddlers & Tiaras" could lose custody of the girl after her estranged husband claimed she sexually exploited their daughter by allowing her to dress so provocatively.

Her father, Bill Verst, has asked a Kentucky court to grant him sole custody of his daughter, who is now 6.

During a court proceeding Saturday, a judge threw reporters out of the courtroom, closed the hearing and placed a gag order on mother Lindsay Jackson. The judge also imposed a ban on any pageant activity for Maddy or her mother for the duration of the trial.

A court-appointed psychologist has sided with Maddy's father, condemning the Parton costume and recommending that a judge make Verst the girl's sole custodial parent.

Jackson said the costume was never meant to be sexual and that she shouldn't be at risk of losing her daughter.

If the judge grants Verst's petition because Maddy did pageants with her mother, "then that opens the door for any parent to challenge anybody on any activity that a kid does, period," Jackson told FOXNews.com.

Jackson dressed her daughter herself in the Dolly Parton costume, telling the TLC show's cameras, "When she wears the fake boobs and the fake butt, it's just like an added extra bonus and it's really funny when she comes out on stage and everybody thinks it's hysterical."

Not everybody thought it was hysterical, however. Some online commenters were quick to express their disgust for the costume and for the perceived sexualization of little girls on the show.

It's not the first time a pageant mother has come under fire on the show.

Wendy Dickey was condemned for dressing her 3-year-old daughter, Paisley, in a racy costume that mimicked the outfit worn by Julia Roberts' prostitute character from the movie "Pretty Woman."

The costume consisted of a fitted, skin-baring white blouse, tight blue mini-skirt and thigh-high, shiny black boots. Paisley wore it all - complete with a blond wig, which Roberts' prostitute character also wore - and critics and children's advocates erupted in outrage.

The court proceedings in Maddy's custody case resume Aug. 31.
Yeah, I think I agree with the dad.
Or at least she should run the costumes by him since his daughter is also going to be on television in front of all america (and more.) What do you think? Do you think the mom can do whatever while the child is in her custody, as long as the child is safe? Also that one with the hooker I thought was absolutely outrageous.

Re: Toddlers & Tiaras

The concern I'd have for this girl would be more long term rather than the short term impact of wearing a costume like that on national TV. A mother who thinks it's appropriate for a small child to be presented like that is showing a serious lack of sense - not only is she teaching the girl to define herself by her appearance, she's also saying "hey, looking sexy gets you noticed. Great, huh?".
You would have to wonder whether a mum like that would stop a, let's say 13 year old girl, from wearing makeup and super short skirts. Or whether she would care that a 15 year old is attracting attention from much older guys. Somehow I doubt it.

I don't know that she should lose custody, but I'd be banning her from putting the girl in pageants and sending her off to some parenting classes pronto.

I was at MIFF last week listening to Bobcat Goldthwait discuss the film he released last year that's currently doing the festival circuit, God Bless America. I could totally empathise. I'd want to shoot those people in the face too. Also, I thanked him for setting The Tonight Show on fire.

What's his film about? and what made him attack the tonight show?

Back to Syd's point... my other question is *who* the Hell is judging these things?!!... probably a bunch of pedo-perv-fap-adicts....

It's basically about a man who, after a series of shitty events, decides to take his own life...but instead turns on reality TV stars. Finds them and shoots them for essentially dumbing down America.

I like the sentiment of the film, but it's nothing really groundbreaking. Pace-wise I found it too dialogue heavy. Having said that, I'd like to go back in his chronology and watch Shakes The Clown. Scorsese called it the "Citizen Kane of alcoholic clown films". Bobcat mentioned that quote during the panel discussion and his daughter (who's 19) asked him why he kept reading that article with the Scorsese quote over and over again. He said, "Honey, your dad is never going to win an award. This is my award."

I have no idea what made Bobcat attack the Tonight Show. I just remember it happened back in '92 or '93. He set it on fire and Leno absolutely lost his shit during the commercial break. Bobcat was sentenced to community service and was forced to apologise on TV for his actions.
