Neal Casal RIP
Reported in Steve Hoffman forums and on his Wikipedia page Neil passed away yesterday.Tragic.

Yeah, very sad to read. Neal truly seemed like the sweetest guy around, and I've listened to those Cardinals shows too many times to count. Despite recent goings-on, they'll always be special to me, and, as such, so will be his contributions. RIP to the man

I had a beer with Neil and Chris after a Cardinals show in 2009, and now both of them are gone, it was right at the tail-end of the Cardinals when stuff seemed pretty shitty and the relationship between Ryan and the band was super-strained, they were just the loveliest guys, real genuine and no ego.
Really sad to hear this news today. |

This is an absolute gut punch. One of the nicest human beings I've ever met, and I'm so appreciative to have had the interactions that I did. Neal was probably my biggest reason for enjoying the Cardinals on the level that I did, and why it felt like such a fun club to be part of. What a loss.

Wow, so sad to wake up to this news this morning. I never got to meet him but you could just tell he was a genuine nice guy. I thought he always looked like he was really enjoying himself when he played, doing what he loved.

Just totally gutted by this news.
I have more records in my collection with Neal on it than anyone else. The Cardinals mean so much to me. CRB. Circles Around the Sun. Hard Working Americans The Skiffle Players. So completely shocked...his harmonizing with Ryan and The Cards still gives me chills when I listen to some of the live recordings. Never met him in person, but always seemed genuine in the interviews and such I've seen. RIP indeed...

Terrible news, so very sad. I saw that he had died, and then begged the universe for it not to be suicide. I don't know why.
He was a lovely photographer, too. This is just heartbreaking. |
