Me too. Always surprising how often true stories are weirder and more unbelievable than any fiction a Hollywood script writer can come up with.

If you're still interested in the Snowtown killings after you've seen the film, this newspaper article provides a pretty decent precis of everything that occurred.

I didn't know this was a movie, I'll need to watch it! Casefile podcast did a really good episode about these murders. I need to listen to it again.

this has been incredibly spot on description thus far - got about halfway through last night and had to stop due to overwhelming anxiety - so much dread from scene to scene - gonna need to psych myself up to finish it

Yeah, its super intense. Probably the only other films that have gotten to me as much as Snowtown are Haneke's Funny Games and another, much earlier Australian true-crime flick called The Boys. The Boys has this slow burn, claustrophobic feel about it. It's brilliant, but I don't know that its available to stream anywhere.

Re: Horror Film Discussion & Recommendations

finally got around to watching midsommar - wow! while it does have some gore im not sure id consider it a horror movie - it seems more like a really sharp satire of horror movies - it was fucking hilarious!

at any rate - highly recommended - its a fun film with some menacing moments

Re: Horror Film Discussion & Recommendations

Good luck with Brightburn. Personally, I thought it was super weak and had a bad time with it.

On a brighter (no jokes intended, but a few mads, nonetheless) note, did see Midsommar today. It was good, but not great. Lots to enjoy, but a number of things that made me not fully love it. As far as cinematography and mood go, though, fucking A. Excellent job. Like OUATIH that I watched the other night, despite my not complete love of the film, I'm still keen to rewatch it when it hits Blu. There were some truly horrifying visuals in there, for sure. Also, Florence Pugh knocked it out. She was excellent in The Little Drummer Girl, and was a complete other kind of excellent in this. Chilling stuff.
