I'm kinda glad I didn't see it before going to Venice last year, would have been freaking the hell out...

Didn't realise 'Wicker Man' was a support feature for it either. I'd be a nervous wreck watching those 2 back-to-back.

Nope. I do enjoy the first film, but the second one was garbage. After all this time I seriously doubt the third one will be anything but garbage.

I love Nature of the Beast with Lance Henriksen and Eric Roberts.

Yeah, Salva is a sick man. Or was, maybe he's reformed? Still doesn't erase what he did, but at least he wouldn't be doing it again.

I once randomly started watching Clownhouse, and having missed the opening credits, had no idea it was a Victor Salva movie. Didn't take long for those long scenes of the young boys in their underwear to become uncomfortable. By the time the totally unnecessary bathtub scene happens ( featuring the little boy who was Salva's victim), I was already convinced the director had some kind of unhealthy obsession with kids. Later on I realised who the director was, and the whole creepster vibe of that film made sense.

Salva wasn't even being particularly subtle about his deviancy.

Re: Horror Film Discussion & Recommendations

We watch mother! last night and I really enjoyed it.

Spoiler:
So I saw Bardem to be God and Lawrence to be Earth/Mary. Harris was Adams, and he gave his rib to create Eve (Pfeiffer). The sons were Cain and Abel. The baby they have is Jesus. The people eventually cause chaos by wrecking the earth and she has enough and wipes us all out. I kind of viewed the movie as being one of Gods first failed attempt at creation saying that he is a flawed as his creations. I guess the message is pretty fucking clear that he still hasn't really perfected his art.

Just finished watching it. That may be what aronofsky was going for but the story doesnít really even start and just stalls. Nothing really drive sit forward.

When you focus on to much of an idea or theme you risk the movie just mulling around when the characters arenít in the drivers seat imo

I don't know, I really liked it and thought it flowed well. My wife and I already plan on watching it again. Seems people either do not like the movie at all or they really enjoy it.

Spoiler:

Yep, he was certainly going for Biblical allegory. I also thought it worked on a more personal level as a story about how the creator (or director) loves what he makes, but ultimately always destroys it in some way through his own vanity and wish to please others. It's Aronoksy taking a long, hard, and rather weird look in the mirror at his own creative process.
