TBY Guides - When Should I Use The Spoiler Function?

Most people on here are net savvy enough to be familiar with spoiler etiquette, but for those who may not be....

You should use a spoiler when:

* Posting nudies or images that may be offensive or disturbing to others. Many of us visit TBY at work, so while a particular image might not offend us, it might offend a boss or co-worker and bring some drama. Obviously pornography and images of Ryan Adams shirtless are not acceptable at any time, but nude images are usually okay as long as they are spoilered and clearly marked NSFW (not safe for work). The same applies to images of graphic violence or horror. Video links should be similarly marked NSFW.

* When discussing plot details of movies, books and TV shows. Obviously, no-one wants to ruin the ending for someone who hasn't seen a particular film etc.

When to use spoilers very often requires a judgment call from the poster, but when in doubt, it's probably best to err on the side of caution and spoiler it up anyhow.

There is a spoiler button on the top far right of your screen when you create a post. If you are Amish and like to do things the old fashioned way, type [ SPOILER ] whatever you want to say [/ SPOILER ] but without the spaces.
