Re: The Jason Isbell Thread

Fun show last night for sure. No elephant actually, but the new stuff sounded great. Shires wasn't with the band last year so it was nice to see her up there.

Highlight of the night for me was codeine. Hopefully someone uploads that to YouTube today. And Cover Me Up, no matter how many times I hear it, gives me chills. Fun night.

Re: The Jason Isbell Thread

still dont have a copy of 'sirens of the ditch' - but ive been on a pretty steady diet of all of his other albums for the past month or so and ive really come around on a few of them - in fact id say i like pretty much every song except for super eight and white mans world - the former sounds too much like a silly robbie fulks tune and the latter is just a bit too awkward/clumsy for me

I think I'm in the minority, I like Super 8. I think i'ts great storytelling. Maybe only Jason could work "pedialyte" into a song.

I like it, too. It's sort of an outlier on Southeastern but I think it's fun.

Re: The Jason Isbell Thread

I get that a majority of his fanbase is showing up for the past 3 albums, but I really wish he would play more off s/t and Sirens. Or at least play the tracks he still wants to more often.

Agreed. There's so much good stuff that predates Southeastern that never gets touched anymore.

I enjoy it live. I think it was on the walking the floor podcast where he talked about how hed hydrate with pedialyte before he was sober.

I hadn't heard that, but it doesn't surprise me. I had an alcoholic friend who would actually go to the ER to get an IV drip after his benders to re-hydrate.

Super 8 is sort of an outlier on Southeastern, but even Dylan had Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts.

I apologize if this has been posted previously but watched this today and its pretty insightful. George Saunders asks some great questions and they really connect / share respect for one another so its a great exchange.

Re: The Jason Isbell Thread

Grrr. So I intended to watch the Jason Isbell/Amanda Shires ACL last night. Started playing it, and it was ZAC BROWN BAND.
Grrrr! The PBS station screwed something up, and all the current ACLs on my Tivo are misnamed. None of them were actually what they. So sad.
