O'Reilly Amazed That Blacks & Whites Are The Same

During the September 19 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, discussing his recent trip to have dinner with Rev. Al Sharpton at Sylvia's, a famous restaurant in Harlem, Bill O'Reilly reported that he "had a great time, and all the people up there are tremendously respectful," adding: "I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship." Later, during a discussion with National Public Radio senior correspondent and Fox News contributor Juan Williams about the effect of rap on culture, O'Reilly asserted: "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.' You know, I mean, everybody was -- it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all." O'Reilly also stated: "I think black Americans are starting to think more and more for themselves. They're getting away from the Sharptons and the [Rev. Jesse] Jacksons and the people trying to lead them into a race-based culture. They're just trying to figure it out. 'Look, I can make it. If I work hard and get educated, I can make it."

Of course. I'm sure his racism and apparently small IQ played no part in any of it.

no, i didn't think it was you being gross

it's the weird photo... i really don't know what to make of it. it freaks me out. i work with kids and it does look innocent, but the fact that it's a photo and it's supposedly "art" and it's part of a "collection" is weird. maybe not kiddie porn, but um.. not good somehow.

they both seem to have drawing on their tummies...

Yeah, I read about that Rose. That's the first photo I've seen though. Hmm, to me, the kids in the picture are obviously just innocently playing. But I'm not sure why a middle aged man (or anyone else for that matter) would want a collection of shots like that. Like ferris said, there is something not quite right about having photos like that.

Yah somethings is a little off about that photo. Is it really porn though? If you wanted more "hardcore" material I'm sure you could find it.

It's not porn, no. But a lot of schools in Sydney have banned video cameras from swimming and sports carnivals. Because, sick as it sounds, peds were going around filming little kids in their swimmers or shorts. I guess the point is, some people don't necessarily need explicit material to get off.

yes, but then when you get caught with it you can't say that it's innocent.

plus, who knows if the innocence of it is part of the turn on.

ok, i just grossed myself out thinking about that so... ick... JACK

It's the sort of pic you might (and I say that with reservations) take of your own kids larking around - but you wouldn't put it in an exhibition or sell it to anyone.

Yep, I would agree. It's a context thing. It's fine for parent to have a photo like that, but not a stranger. Perhaps the photographer is trying to make some point about the fine line between innocence and sexuality..who knows. But she is wading into some murky waters I think.

yes. and fucking with people's conceptions of where that line is. sometimes art should make you feel weird. this does, but i don't know... when it involves old men looking at kids... no thanks. too far.

Re: Miscellaneous/Amusing News Items

I don't know what to think about this one....

Quote:
A South Carolina man who stored his severed leg in a barbecue smoker that was later auctioned off is locked in a custody dispute with a North Carolina man who found it.

John Wood's leg was amputated near the knee after a 2004 airplane crash. He asked doctors to give it to him so he could be buried as a whole man when he died.

The limb, which Wood had kept in the smoker in a storage facility after he lost his home, was bought by Shannon Whisnant last Tuesday in an auction held by the storage company because Wood had missed his monthly payments.

Whisnant initially gave it to police, who subsequently turned it over to a funeral home when it became clear it was not the result of foul play.

But Whisnant, who put a sign on the empty smoker charging adults $US3 ($3.40) and children $US1 for a look, now wants it back.

"He's making a freak show out of it," Wood told The Charlotte Observer.

"He wants to put money in his pocket with this thing."

Whisnant, who was unsuccessful in his bid to get the leg from the funeral home, consulted a lawyer and decided his best move was to persuade Wood to share custody and profits.

"It's a strange incident and Halloween's just around the corner," Whisnant said. "The price will be going up if I get [a stake in] the leg."

Wood, who is heading to Maiden to pick up his leg, said the two men can meet, but he is not interested in using the leg to make money.

"I just think it's despicable," he said. "I don't mind having the 15 minutes of fame, but I'm not looking to really profit off this thing."
