Dawes - All Your Favorite Bands (June 2)

Quote:
Recorded in Nashville with producer David Rawlings (Gillian Welch, Old Crow Medicine Show) at the legendary Woodland Studios, All Your Favorite Bands is the band’s most live-sounding album to date. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, the band acknowledged that this album “is a really great example of what we sound like on stage”.

1. Things Happen
2. Somewhere Along the Way
3. Don't Send Me Away
4. All Your Favorite Bands
5. I Can't Think About It Now
6. To Be Completely Honest
7. Waiting For Your Call
8. Right on Time
9. Now That It's Too Late, Maria

I really disliked their last album, but this new single is promising.

Yeah, I was worried when they ditched Jonathan Wilson and the final product was underwhelming.

No, it really isn't. I am kind of at the point where I will no longer get excited when I hear they have a new album on the way.

I really tried to listen to this and like it.

Same. North Hills and Nothing Is Wrong were so, so good. It just seems like they've lost their way, which is such a shame. Taylor's voice is one of my favorite.

Yeah, gotta say I agree, FF. Just doesn't do anything for me.

I'm enjoying it. It's definitely different from what they've done before.

Re: Dawes - All Your Favorite Bands (June 2)

I agree with previous posters that the first 2 albums were great. The last one was not good and sometimes a band will just not do it for you anymore. This looks like one of those bands for me.

Re: Dawes - All Your Favorite Bands (June 2)

They're always really good live, but the new songs are still snoozers for me.

Also, props to Mandy for landing Taylor.

Re: Dawes - All Your Favorite Bands (June 2)

Just watched the vid for the title track. It was pretty cool. Video features heaps of folks I care way more for than I do for Dawes (my Dawes care is like... 4%).

I did like what Taylor did with Middle Brother, though. That album still rules.
