Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

JTE and Isbell had the same tour manager, who JTE was also dating. They broke up, but Isbell kept her on as tour manager. JTE pulls the bros before hoes card, and Isbell says grow up. JTE has been pissed since.

Pretty sure it was the girl who he was dating when the last album came out and he was all "she's a tough gal who doesn't put up with my shit. So if I fall off the wagon again, she'll kick my ass" about his girlfriend.

Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

Was it confirmed he fell off the wagon during the promotion cycle for last album too?

Seems like it happens during the touring for every album. Sober while making it, messed up by the end of the cycle. Maybe I'm wrong.

He might have been off the wagon during the making of that album, too.

Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

The kid on the cover is Sammy Brue a 13 yr old folk progidy, I came across his instagram page a while back and instantly recognized him when he appeared on the cover. Not sure if that's his mom or a model...Not the greatest cover but nonetheless most anticipated album of the year for me. Not sure how he does it but every album gets better

There's not much in it between MATM and HRB, but the last album was very disappointing to me, haven't listened to it for over a year.

It's a shame this album is gonna be over shadowed by the new RA. I think it's a better album.

Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

Listened to this the other day. It's just OK for me, at this point. Feels very JTE by the numbers and kinda a case of diminishing returns. I'm guilty of initially thinking new albums by artists I love are not great, though, so I'll be back when I've given it a few more spins...

Overshadowed press wise or by us?

I should check it out... the last one sounded good, nothing bad about it, but it didn't keep my interest at all.

Got my LP today. It says 180g black vinyl. Is there a colored version?

Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

I liiiike it but it's not demanding the next listen. There's a couple good parts but not entirely grasping, seems rushed, musically & lyrically...then again i've only listened a couple times, guessing this one will be a grower..

I don't actually think it's better than the new RA.

Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

Nowhere near touching the RA album for me.

To be honest, I just expect less from JTE. His releases are always solid, but I haven't been really excited for one since Harlem River Blues.

Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

The RA album is way better, funny because two months ago i would have easily pit money on JTE's being the superior one. On to Absent Fathers

Re: Single Mothers (9/9)

If you needed any more proof that this album would be better without the full band: http://www.relix.com/media/video/jus...a_lonely_night

Seems to me it's actually the full arrangement that kind of kills the album for me.
