Jeff Tweedy- Together at Last

this looks real nice, comes out in June. An acoustic reinterpretation of Wilco songs done by Jeff. Already a song out and it sounds lovely...

Sweet. I haven't dug the last few Wilco records, but I do think Tweedy can do some incredible solo renditions. His Sunken Treasure from way back when rules. An I've always loved Laminated Cat/Not For The Season.

I also liked Schmilco. While some of the more recent Wilco albums haven't been to my taste, I can respect Jeff and the other guys for wanting to evolve and develop as a band.

Yeah, it's good. Sometimes the voice seems a little hot in the mix, but that's the acoustic intimate thing.

I also found the harp to be a bit hot at times but overall I really love it.

Re: Jeff Tweedy- Together at Last

This feels like an unnecessary release to me.
Most of these songs have been played to death and there's not really any big change with these versions. I am not familiar with Lost Love, so I can't speak on that one. It would have been a good release for him to put out some unreleased songs on. I have always loved Nothing's Up My Sleeve from the YHF demos for whatever reason.
The album doesn't suck or anything, I just don't know when I would really want to listen to it again.

That is fair.

Lost Love is on Weird Tales, the Golden Smog album.

I enjoyed this record on a recent plane ride, but haven't spent a ton of time with it.

Apart from the hot voice in the mix, it's pretty safe interpretation wise.

His solo version of Sunken Treasure around the YHF era is the shit... put that on an album and I'm there.

Re: Jeff Tweedy- Together at Last

This is really staying with me. At first I wondered also about the value of the album but some of the versions are superb, especially Via Chicago which makes me well-up it feels so beautiful. I don't all the songs work, or maybe it stays too long on a similar tempo, but I would love to hear volume 2.

My album of the year so far.

funny you should mention Tweedy and Drake in the same sentence. This album and Pink Moon are my current go-to albums. Maybe it's just the mood I'm in at the minute (not great) but they both have a similar effect on me.
