Re: What Are You Reading Now?

I've been reading those Steve Berry books for bedtime/midnight insomnia reading. They're fun...

I'm also reading The Day My Butt Went Psycho to GSjr.

Absolutely loving this Johnny Marr book, can't put it down.
Going to follow it up with a second read of Morrissey's book.
Anyone else read Marr's book yet?

Re: What Are You Reading Now?

Wonderfully evocative and meticulously researched page turner examining
the dire consequences of myth and superstition in a poverty-stricken 1820's Irish village. Terrific read.

And just started this - a reworking of the Lizzie Borden murders. Brilliantly written so far.

And then I'll be starting on this - I loved his Joy Division book, so this one should be great too:

Re: What Are You Reading Now?

Just finished the third, and final, book in The Passage series. Lots of pros, and a number of pretty big cons with this series, but overall an enjoyable story. Definitely read if you dig Stephen King or "end of the world" dystopian shit.

Next on my list is probably going to be either "Pachinko" by Min Jin Lee, or "Borne" by Jeff Vandermeer.

Re: What Are You Reading Now?

Just purchased this yesterday and looking forward to starting it. It's been getting a lot of positive hype, including a lengthy review in The Atlantic.

It's called But What If We're Wrong?

It's like essays, but a single argument with different examples. He talks about trying to picture how are worldview and lasting impressions will be to a world far in the future and talks about majors shifts in believes from the past to now.

It's a little circular and I found the argument to get a little trite after a bit, but it's Klosterman... some fine writing, humour, and ideas.

About 30 pages into this and it's a fun, easy to read horror comedy so far:

Apparently Ron Howard's production company has optioned it.
