glad you see my point.

I can also attest to an eternal fondness for balv, so that makes a ménage a tomodachi.

Re: Alt-Country R. Kelly: The Thread

I would just like to say before I get banned that I’ve never been a big fan of the Balvene and their posts. I am a big fan of Paul Newman too, which added to my dislike of his posts, because I feel he represents Paul in an unflattering way.

I want to add that I wouldn’t have come here to express my displeasure in them unless I had come across this insane outpouring of positive and flattering posts about them in the first place. It makes me wonder if it’s not some type of nefarious campaign.

Ok that’s it.

Phoebe said that while on tour it was international Woman’s day. Their crew was entirely or mainly women. Ryan bought everyone on the crew a sword. Phoebe didn’t get one and posted about it on Twitter.

https://mobile.twitter.com/phoebe_br...24274234073089

Lauren Crowley, who was the monitor engineer on said tour, briefly posted a tweet saying that yes indeed Ryan gave all of the female crew people a sword. She also said that the female crew was working Phoebe’s portion of the show for free, which is very generous of them. She also went on to say that Ryan was always good to her on tour.

She since deleted that post.

Here is Lauren on YouTube talking about audio stuff. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cqozYxweCR0

Some commentary ensued where people wondered whether comments like this from Phoebe somehow watered down her original complaints of severe mental abuse.

Hopefully this brings everyone up to date on the sword story.

Good words Bill. So poignant, powerful and as relevant today as they were two weeks ago. Can't thank you enough for taking the time to create this troll account and support the good fight. God's speed.

You’re welcome! My time is pretty tight so I appreciate the support.

But which the good fight I’m supporting, I’m confused? My post seemed pretty agnostic. Unless the good fight is that crew people should be paid, in which case you are correct.

I’m not really into God either, the whole “12 step” thing was kind of a scam.

Re: Alt-Country R. Kelly: The Thread

I realize these posts are made in jest, but I actually listened to that linked youtube podcast, and it was actually pretty cool. She made reference to the challenge of troubleshooting Ryan's notorious sound issues on stage when she was first put on tour with him, and came across as very adept technically and also quite sensitive on an interpersonal level, and seems like a reliable source to me. (At least, based on the linked interview.) It's hard to say what her reasons were for removing her post, but as with any controversy, you kind of expect to hear at least a few voices from the "opposing side" (or, in this case, the "supporting side"), which seem to have been conspicuously absent throughout this whole 'fall from grace', as it were. I couldn't help but wonder whether Ryan really had alienated himself from literally everyone he knows, as it seems quite remarkable that not even one person he's been involved with (speaking generally) in his life would take a position in support of him thus far.

Of course the belaboring of the 'sword issue' is silly, but does offer some context, if indeed it was a juvenile technique to be mean-spirited -- and I've seen psychological games of that nature played out by narcissists in my own life, so I don't think it's a far-fetched storyline. Nevertheless, hearing first-hand stories from those who've worked with Ryan in long-term situations who do not seem to exclusively demonize him seems to me to bring a little more fairness to the balance of what's being factored in, in the judgement of him. I know this forum tends to lean toward "total dismissal/utter monster/unforgivable", and I don't disagree with the reasoning behind the disgust, but I do hope some people are leaving room for the acknowledgement of Ryan's humanity, which I have to believe is buried under all his bad and ugly decisions, and a sensitivity to the fact that they likely stemmed from untreated damage and terrible coping mechanisms to begin with. At the end of the day, it's tempting to be angry or hurt or disgusted or whatever, and therefore find satisfaction in witnessing the resulting downfall, but I hope everyone can admit that there *is* a level at which the downfall would not be as delicious to watch as you'd expect.
