But the new cut is only a few months old, right?

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
Anyone want to post a pic of the new Gold, Cold Roses and 29 with the shrink. If any of us get them and they don't match up them I guess they can be ruled out straight away.
I'm thinking not all Amazon warehouses will have the same stock. Don't really care about Follow the Lights or Cardinology. |

They probably pressed the new ones up to coincide with the Prisoner release, figuring they would sell quite a few.

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
Just got mine from amazon.com, checked the deadwax and Cold Roses has CB and 29 has BG. My just a couple years old copies do not have those initials. Haven't had a chance to see if they're better sounding yet.
ETA: I guess I had a decent copy of Cold Roses, a quicky A/B test doesn't yield a ton of difference, but it was pretty quick test. The new one is quieter and maybe has a little more presence, the older one is possibly louder sounding, does vinyl get played in at all? The biggest difference right away is the spindle hole, the new copy fits like it's supposed to, the old copy I almost always have to push it on the spindle and it can be awkward to get it off the spindle sometimes. Also the old one seems a little thicker on one side, so it may be slightly pressed off center. Last edited by ViolaGal; 04-09-2017 at 08:37 PM.. |

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
Eh, that varies based on the individual press and how the record cools.
If it's off center, you'll see the tone arm sway while the record rotates. Also sound may end up wavy. |

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
Yes good point. My CR doesn't sound wavy but there's not much in there that would show it, like a sustained chord. I've had a couple poorly pressed copies of Dock of the Bay and finally just ended up settling for the least bad of the three...

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
In a bid to recognise how to identify a new press without opening it up. My new Gold arrived today and this is what I noticed:
I have a 2007 US repress of Gold (I can't see it discogs) but I'm sure it's the most recent apart from the clear which has a yellow sticker and ignoring the Back to Black. At first a sealed copy of the 2017 CB looks almost indistinguishable from this but the first thing I noticed is that the sleeve is much lighter in colour on the 2017, the white stripes on the US flag are a lot less blue and closer to white. The reds, especially the spine is not as dark. The manufacturing/ folding of the sleeve is much neater on the 2017 and it's wrapped differently in the shrink. The 2007 has an inch thick band across the back where it is doubled up and sealed whereas the 2017 is just sealed at the edges. And finally the 2017 copy weighed 18 grams more than the 2007. Anyone else care to confirm my geeky findings. |

Who's the seller? Can you PM me. Looking to import to the UK. I ordered Jacksonville from Amazon.com and it shipped today despite being out of stock.
Thanks |

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
My Chris Bellman Cold Roses LP finally arrived. $10 plus postage, great deal. I can barely tell the difference between my 12 yr old sleeve and this new one. It is embossed like the original, colour looks pretty much identical and has the same 180g Lost Highway sticker just no title sticker. My original never sounded too bad but this is still an improvement.

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
Thanks for the quite useful info. I was going to repurchase all three from Amazon but it appears CR is out of stock. Are there other verified sources with the new pressings? The last thing I need is another United record.

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
No other verified sources. Other sellers such as marketplace, discogs, eBay, and online shops are not going to open these to check the deadwax for pressing info, this is why it's best to get these at Amazon. Since they are not an advertised repress, people will not have a clue what pressing they have. Once Amazon can no longer get it from distribution, there will just be a mass muddle of sealed good and bad pressings all listed with the same barcode and catalogue number.
Its like those singles reissued on blue vinyl, once you can't get them from Amazon it's going to be a real pain to get them because sellers are unlikely to open them up to check. |

Cold Roses was out of stock when I ordered, it took a couple of weeks to come back in.

Cool thanks fr. I'll wait for Amazon, at least we now know their old stock is gone (hopefully). Where did you find CR for $10?

Re: Vinyl represses by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas
When I ordered it, it was $10.83, it then dropped to something like $10.08 before it got sent out from Amazon.com. I live on the UK so had to pay postage.
