Re: So, the rise of conspiracy theories.....

the 9/11 stuff is insanity.

If a government was so evil that they needed to kill 2000 people and destroy a couple of buildings to justify going to war for oil, why wouldn't they just go to war for oil? Because if they certainly don't care about the lives of thousands of americans, why would they care about their opinion of just going to war to take oil?

Yep. Not to mention the number of people who would have had to know about it and help carry out the plan. Best kept big secret ever.

Flat earthers confuse me more than anything. What do they think Science's endgame is in "saying"the world is round?

One scintillating piece of logic I've read is that NASA just fabricates all evidence about both the shape of the Earth and space travel. Apparently they want to keep the government convinced that they are actually doing something, so the funding doesn't stop.

Even further down the same rabbit hole, another version suggests the ultimate goal in saying the earth is round is because the Bible says its flat. NASA are evil deep operatives who want to deny the existence of God.

There are probably other theories. A lot of conspiracy stuff just seems like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book for gullible people.

I imagine its basically a circle. Case in point is Jordan Sather, a You Tube grifter who covers the whole gamut - Q Anon, anti-vac, aliens, UFO's, crisis actors. His Twitter is like a Cliffs Notes for conspiracy theories.

Re: So, the rise of conspiracy theories.....

Pedophilia seems like a real obsession with a lot of conspiracy theorists. I suppose if you're going to create an imaginary enemy, its best to have that enemy do the most depraved things possible. And pedophilia obviously fits the bill.

But still, it seems uncomfortably like projection in some instances. Some of these people see it everywhere.

That one gorilla meathead guy always accuses people of pedophilia. At this point it’s laughable when he does.

Cernovich? He was right into Pizzagate as well, until the shooter turned up. Then he ran a mile from it at speed.

grifters irk me so so much.

Itís going to be interesting whether Trump tries to do anything in response to the recent mini purge of these folks on social media. He tweeted about it today of course.

I should be used to Trump by now, but I still find it crazy that the President of the United States is tweeting about James Woods and Paul Joseph Watson.

In fact, its mad that the US President even knows who Paul Joseph Watson is.

Re: So, the rise of conspiracy theories.....

"Targeted individuals" is a new conspiracy theory to me, and one that is genuinely sad, Basically, it's a group of people suffering various mental health issues involving delusion and paranoia, that have become convinced the govt/aliens/whatever are following them and implanting thoughts in their minds. Naturally, the internet echo chamber just reinforces their illness.

Oldish but good article here -

Pretty interesting they deployed this tool directly from the white house and not the Trump campaign.
