Re: Buck for sale

No way... he's getting rid of the Buck Owens?! Perhaps he has more than one? Wild.

I bet you could get a fair price on the Walkedypants lyric sketch...

I'm pretty sure he has two of them at least. Who knows, maybe more. I'm interested to see what it goes for. On reverb when they rarely are available i think they fetch 1500-2k easy.

Re: Buck for sale

It's up to 12,600

We really blew it by not doing a TBY.ORG crowd funding and purchasing this item ourselves.

He has at least two -- if you see pics of the Carnegie Hall concert, you will see both of them -- I think one of them was tuned to Drop D for Winding Wheel, though attendees can confirm that.

Somebody mentioned a while back when he was in the UK about him having a "hard time" playing the Buck -- I guess that Red White and Blue stripes are just too damn patriotic for him, or something, in this era of "madness."

Hoo boy.

Is he going to give up his Sovereigns, too, since they were made by Harmony, who also made the Buck? Inquiring minds want to know.

So now he's enamored of the Eckos. The 12 string sounds OK, but the 6 string is "meh." Not that it matters much, it's all about the singing.

But the Buck is a great great guitar. I own one. For a simple ladder braced guitar, it's an amazing instrument--bright yet powerful through every octave, and the low notes simply boom.

It is clear to me when amplified Ryan has never altered the overall direct acoustic sound of the guitar -- amping only provided additional sustain with some great harmonic overtones. But what you hear is what you get unplugged.

In the two years or so Harmony made them, they must have had access to some primo spruce and mahogany.

Re: Buck for sale

And to Karl, yeah the Ekos arent great by any stretch. I miss the tone of the two soverign jumbos. Alot of his live acoustic sound though is attributed to the condenser mic set up. And like you said it doesnt really matter what he plays, its mostly hid voice which make the songs for most.

After Trump won, he said he'd be retiring them because he didn't feel patriotic enough to play a red/white/blue guitar. It's in his insta, too lazy to find link. I don't blame him.

Seems pretty pointless to me. At least it's going to a good cause.

Re: Buck for sale

Good cause but I would say that the buyer overpaid a bit. Clapton, Hendrix, Lennon, McCartney guitars all go for $500,000 + but Ryan Adams collectors are a lot fewer in number.

Yeah, it's referred to as "The Scroll". I believe it's 120 ft long if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: Just checked, I was right. Kind of weird considering it's not one of my favorite pieces of literature at all but I had an ex-girlfriend who was into all that "beat" stuff. I guess it works to your advantage when you actually listen to your significant other...even though we're not together anymore of course. You might just learn a thing or two.

so if you are rich you are not allowed to relate to people that aren't rich? that's an interesting point of view.
