Re: Horror Film Discussion & Recommendations

I found Polanski's The Tenant on DVD last week. It's a haunting tale of creeping madness.

I hadn't seen It Follows before tonight, but discovered it's now on Netflix (U.S.). Definitely a good one like everyone here had said. Watch it if you haven't seen it yet.

Re: Horror Film Discussion & Recommendations

I think what happened though is that they built and worked that tension so well then when shit happens it's not as intense as what came before

Either way I thought it was solid haha

I'm looking forward to this film. Been hearing good things about it since it showed at the Toronto International Film Festival back in 2015.

I saw this quite a while ago under the title "February". It has a creepy atmosphere.

I'd say the same thing about 10 Cloverfield Lane. Overall, I enjoyed both though.

Re: Horror Film Discussion & Recommendations

Just watched Always Shine... not a horror movie but it's definitely got some psychological elements to it that push it there as a thriller. Really good.

Re: Horror Film Discussion & Recommendations

The bravely titled Trashfire is either interesting or awful, depending on your tastes. It's a black comedy/horror mashup, and (I assume) a deliberately schlocky take on Southern Gothic. It doesn't really work, but it's pretty watchable all the same, if only to admire its excesses.

Directed by the same guy who wrote/directed the much superior and more gruesome Excision.

Trashfire is available on Netflix.

It's a bit like watching a Tennessee Williams play co-directed by John Waters and Brian De Palma. So a campy, violent mess, but never a dull mess.

And speaking of Excision, I just discovered the original short version of the film. If you haven't seen the full length Excision yet and don't want any spoilers, best not to watch this.

Otherwise, there are worse ways of wasting 20 minutes.

NSFW

And have you guys and gals seen the trailer for "It Comes At Night"? If not, look it up. I'd post it if I could do so from my phone. Looks great.
