What next?

Prisoner and it's promotion is now done and dusted and I wondered what folks thought was next? It's pure speculation but are you anticipating another album in the same vein?

I know what I want (something different but that's how I like him, always moving) but I'm wondering whether that's likely. Maybe an acoustic tour? I don't know, but it's interesting that he's gone silent, don't think that's happened for quite a while.

Re: What next?

I think we are gonna get a solo tour to test run some new tunes and then a return to alt country sound. But I also think it’s gonna be another 3-4 years before an LP.

Re: What next?

A solo tour would be awesome. I’d love a tour with the bluegrass sound he toyed around with the stringdusters.

I’m cool with a break before another album.

Re: What next?

We've seen a string of archival releases: Heartbreaker box, Love is Hell vinyl box, III/IV, Live after Deaf, to some extent the Prisoner box, and we just got a live album. I'd say anything is possible next.

What I'd like is a Jon Brian-style album with him exploring production and arrangements on a new album, but realistically I'll buy anything ;-)

Re: What next?

Seeing that he posted a ton of Beatles pictures on his Instagram and even bought a Hofner violin bass, I wonder if there'll be more Beatles-esque balads in the vein of Black Clouds and other older stuff on the new record..

Re: What next?

An album &/or tour with the Stringdusters would be great. More archive releases. Whatever's next ditch the 80s production & the fucking chorus pedal.

Now I would like an album of piano-led tunes. Not sure we've had that for a while. Last piano-led album track?

Re: What next?

Not to start a thing, but now is the time to rollout Blackhole. Or an archival series or something.

2017 was a big year for him, probably the biggest in a decade, so in order to buy some time for the new LP, and keep him in some headlines, and in minds, put out some archive stuff.

Re: What next?

Would there be any benefit to taking a year off from a major release? There's been a ton of releases since S/T came out. 89, 84, the prisoner box set, heartbreaker re-release, the 7" series, Rough Trade.

Although I suppose a release aimed at the hardcore fans feeds our fix without over saturating the rest of his audience. We'll see I guess.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that. I actually love that song as it led him in a direction of song-making that I don't think he'd normally bother with. It's quite dramatic with a biggish chorus (not sure that explains what I mean)

I know nothing and wasn't hinting at anything. Just noting the radio silence.

Except you're forgetting a detail : https://www.instagram.com/p/BcT9A0tF...isterryanadams

The mention "closed" seemed to announce a distance...

Need a break with his fans! need to find oneself in front of oneself and that can be understandable after this monumental tour.
In any case, the last image he left in instagram before going away for a while is radiant...

I 100% agree with this post. Last year was huge for him. 2018 would be perfect to work on some new songs and release the archive stuff. We haven't had an archive album since 2010. Blackhole or something we've never heard of from the early days would be great.
