Re: 50 Shades of Grey

All Ms. Skanky's friends are reading the other mostly out of obligation and don't like it as much, but I'll have to let her know that the character "beads it up" later on.

I just heard it's got the whole young trollop that attracts the attention of a very rich older guy.... FUCK THAT SHIT.

All you girls out there moving to NYC and prancing around in front of investment bankers on Wall St.... give it up. You'll probably get dumped when you're "too old" for these jackasses (32 or older)... or worse... end up floating down the East River once the guy's psycho wife catches on. This Sex in the City fantasy needs to stop.

Whoa, GSkanks has some trollop anger issues it seems.

Bro, I don't think any girls like that exist on this board. But if you happen to know any investment bakers, you know, send 'em my way.

Wrath of skanky!

I actually know some girls like that. Went to college with them and now I see all these Facebook status updates of them dressing real slutty and hanging out at rich parties in NY. To be honest, they were slutty bitches in college.

could be worse... she's something like 21 (just about to graduate college) when they meet and he's 27. But yeah, she's the awkward virgin who never realized she was hot before and he's the make-you-drool gorgeous bazillionaire. It's very realistic!

Re: 50 Shades of Grey

Have any of you seen the show Girls on HBO?
I've only seen two episodes, but it seems to have that disillusioned girls in NYC that finally woke up to the reality of how shitty life is and how fake people are kind of vibe.

It was more graphic than I realized, but I like it. Plus one of the episodes has that cute guy from the movie Thumbsucker, although he wasn't that cute in thumbsucker because of the whole thumbsucking business. But hot in the show. My girlfriends are obsessed with that show.

They're not good enough for Robotulism!!! Here's the plan:

1.) Investment banker makes Bot sole beneficiary of his soulless and ethically-questionable fortune, immediately before jumping from a Midtown skyscraper, upon realizing he's a worthless piece of shit parasite.

2.) Independently wealthy, Bot is free to have a "quality" relationship with an unemployed musician like a normal person.

Ooh, I like this plan. Know any suicidal rich men who I won't be upset about when they off themselves?

Maybe I'll write some cheesy novel about it, or maybe some goodskanky fan fiction. Make money money make money monaay!

Re: 50 Shades of Grey

Sex scenes. Some rough sex scenes, uncomfortable butt-play. Lots of tit shots of the main character who really look like she has more man-boobs than woman boobs, but whatever. Actually you should probably watch this show, I bet your girlfriend might like it.

I don't know any just yet, but I'm working on it. I may have to settle for a will and testament by gunpoint and some quality defenestration to make this happen.

Re: 50 Shades of Grey

First Angelina, now Bret Easton Ellis is being linked to the film version. I wonder if the Ana character likes Phil Collins?

Quote:
Author and screenwriter Brett Easton Ellis has officially thrown his hat in the ring to write the movie adaptation, and has directors and actors in mind. For those who were questioning how serious he is, he tweeted, “Completely committed to adapting Fifty Shades of Grey. This is not a joke. Christian Grey and Ana: potentially great cinematic characters.”

Re: 50 Shades of Grey

Quote:
Fifty Shades of milestones. Today in disturbing news: The book—that book, you know, that book—has now enjoyed faster paperback sales in the U.K. than even the mighty Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code. "Last week alone, the first instalment sold more than 100,000 paperback copies – a feat most of the Harry Potter books and all of the Twilight novels failed to achieve." First Britain, then the world, to some people's dismay, though obviously not E.L. James'. The woman is hungry on power!

Re: 50 Shades of Grey

5 minutes in this thread and I remember why I've missed you guys!

I have not read the books and have no intention to, but this thread enlightened me a bit. I didn't know the Twilight angle (yuck!) and since the general consensus seems to be that they're poorly written, that just affirms my choice not to read them. I have zero interest in porn literature, even if it's well-written, so I surely don't want any part of it if the writing is crap.

I read Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, and I had to get used to reading the racy parts in those books, which are few and far between and I'm sure extremely mild by comparison to most books of the romance genre.

So, pass on this. But I did love reading this discussion thread ABOUT the books. Hilarious!

No, it's not him, though I do see the similarities!

Kerr Smith is the main reason I watched Dawson's Creek, so I'm up on his face!

Re: 50 Shades of Grey

Apparently Bret Easton Ellis wants either Alexander Skarsgard or (oh my) Ryan Gosling for the male lead. And either Scarlett Johansson or (wait fer it...) Kirsten Stewart for the female role. They might have to rename it 50 Shades of Sullen if Stewart got the part.

She just needs to find another facial expression and use it occasionally. The sulky look gets old. I would go and see this film if Ryan Gosling was in it. Otherwise, nein.

'Social Network' team to produce 'Fifty Shades'
Updated 08:20 p.m., Monday, July 9, 2012

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The producers of "The Social Network" are producing the film adaption of the best-selling erotic trilogy "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Universal Pictures and Focus Features said in a joint statement Monday that Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will reteam for the adaptation of the best-selling novels by E. L. James.

The multimillion-selling books tell the story of an unworldly college student engaging in an unusual romantic relationship with a wealthy young businessman.

They have been called "mommy porn" for their sexual content and large female following.
