Drive-By Truckers - The Fine Print (Sept 1)

Quote:
Second in upcoming DBT News, on September 1st, New West will be releasing THE FINE PRINT (A Collection of Oddities and Rarities 2003-2008). We finished mixing it yesterday and are mastering it Thursday. It features 12 songs and maybe the most fun album we've ever made. Songs include "George Jones Talkin' Cell Phone Blues", "Rebels", "Play It All Night Long", "TVA" and the original never released version of "Goode's Field Road".
More Cooley Jams, plz

Re: Drive-By Truckers - The Fine Print (Sept 1)

Quote:
"They pretty much went through the vaults and found everything that didn't get released and asked us how we'd feel about us putting that out," Hood explains. "After my initial growling and grumbling, I went back and listened, and it was pretty cool. The majority of it comes from The Dirty South sessions. We had so many songs, that album could have very easily been a double LP. Most of it is originals, but there are also a couple of covers. We did a great version of "Play It All Night Long" by Warren Zevon just for the hell of it one day in the studio. There's also a Tom T. Hall song on there that we recorded for a tribute record that never came out. It turned out to be a pretty cohesive record. I'm excited about it."

I hope this new little release is better than that ACL performance.

Patterson did say this about it

Quote:
First off, our Austin City Limits show from last fall will be released on July 7 on DVD. The DVD will include the entire performance (only about a third of it was aired when it came on TV).
This is by far the best live performance of ours ever caught on film.
We were on, the sound was excellent, and the production value top-notch. We loved playing on that stage and the crowd was fantastic.
It also features one of the last ever performances of "18 Wheels Of Love", featuring the full monologue and the sequel monologue.

He must be referring to the parts that didnt air on tv, right? Because they were definitely not 'on' from what I saw.

I agree with FF. They must've picked a bad third.

I would have given anything to have been at that ACL show. Ryan Bingham and Drive By Truckers? Those guys need to go on tour together.

Another Rock n Roll Means Well tour would be swell too. Most fun I've ever had a show. Hands down.

I'm sure this doesn't belong in the new album thread...but seriously, would you check out Cooley's jacket. This picture is killing me
